Now I know you saw the gun but did you see the target?
Many in real life only see the gun.

Yes I did see the target. But the gun wasn't aimed at the target. It was aimed towards the viewer.

Nothing wrong with target practice.

I despise those bogus water shots.

Phony as they usually are, there’s been way many threads about 10X ND and crossed PL filters. Disgusting.

As to sunsets they may be de rigeur cliches but at least they are real. Cotton candy moving water is not.

I agree with you about cotton candy water. As to sunsets... these days, sunsets, skies and sun's rays may or may not be real.

I hope everyone that has posted takes the time to read this reply. I think there have been some really nice images of trees posted here. I think that my original post didn’t get across what I was trying to say so let me take another stab at it.

I can see the beauty of tree images and have taken a few myself. I do realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but to me some photographers seem to need to explain every part of the photo they are taking to justify the shot. I understand that we all see things differently but I get the impression from their explanation they are trying to not only convince others there is a reason for taking the shot, they are trying to convince themselves.

It is kinda like some painting that looks like a shelf full of paint was spilled on a canvas and the result has supposed to contain some deep meaning.

I just don’t get it when a photographer has to spend ten minutes trying to convince me the shot was worth taking.

Some give me the impression that they need to take a image of a tree no matter what it looks like. Again, I can appreciate a nice tree photograph.

This may not be any better way to put what I was trying to say but I gave it another try.
I hope everyone that has posted takes the time to ... (show quote)

------------------------------

That is why I prefer photographs with no (often) silly captions and long winded explanations. It is my strong belief that I (the viewer) need not and should not be told what to think. e.g "a beautiful sunset". Why can't we just let photographs stand on their own two feet... with out explanation or guidance? They don't (necessarily) have to tell a story. I sometimes get the feeling that some here spend more time trying to come up with a catchy caption than the photo itself.

Earlier this year I ran a weekly posting "silent photos" supplying a subject and asking for photos to be posted satisfying that subject... with no captions and no discussions. It did alright for a while. There were those who really liked it... and those who wouldn't or couldn't follow guidelines. There were still replies with comments, etc. So I finally gave up.

My bottom line is... let photos stand on there own two feet... and don't tell me what to think.

Thanks

Barry

Tree vs Hurricane including house.

The house is long gone. The tree trunk remains a couple of years later.

This tree was worth taking the photo. Am I a photographer? It's not for me to say.

Covered bridges are always nice to see.

This one, to me, has lines and design which strike me as being relatively modern... as opposed to old, traditional styles. I may be wrong. But that's how it struck me at first glance.

Can you give me any help about that?

That's a fun set of pictures.

Correct me if I'm wrong... The title Lots of Canadian Geese should actually read Lots of Canada Geese. That's a common misnomer.

To glorify an assault weapon on Memorial Day... a day when we honor our soldiers who have died... many of whom by an enemy with that type of weapon... is unspeakable.

And... I would not trust a naked female brandishing an assault weapon with that look on her face.

Is that the best that you have? We hear that all the time. How about an original theory instead of the Usual party line.

What bothers me... aside from the awful face on the model... And the tattoos (opinion)... is the emphasis of the killing machine(even if fake) and the connection of the machine to Memorial Day... the day we honor dead soldiers... many of whom were killed by instruments such as the one you champion in your photo.

It may be a prop... but in a stressful moment of confrontation... who knows what might happen.

I realize your stance on it all. I hope you never get caught on the receiving end of a real one.

Come on Mr. Los-Angeles-Shooter... let's hear from you. WHY?

But make it some logical, valid, well though-out arguments. Not just "Because I can"... which is what we all expect you to say... if anything at all.

Especially on Memorial Day.

Scanning & digitizing severa hundred 35mm slides. Most are good but 12 (1 roll) are tinted like this. I cannot seem to correct this problem. I'm not an expert. I've tried photoshop & Luminar 4 with no success. Please help!
Thanks, Bob

I put it, into Lightroom and in the develop module I just adjusted the "tint" slider to the right about half way... and got this. There are a few other things I might have then done... but just the tint slider helped a lot.

There is room to do better. But this is a good start.
