Heck of a beautiful area of our country. Don't be such a stranger. Autumn will knock your socks off.

An enviable shot, Dennis. I was just at Cape Cod 2 weeks ago but did not think to try such a shot. Very nicely done.

Going through the archives a bit and came across this early AM shot in the foggy Little River canyon... Yeah, maybe over the top and a little saturated but I like it... This is one of my favorite rim viewpoints.

Mornings like this in the Southern Appalachians are a great pleasure. Captured nicely, MrBob.

Is very frustrating as they were heading away from me through some heavy timber. Anyhow, this is a pair of two year old cubs somewhat in the open as they were feeding. Mother was further in the timber and I was unable to get any decent images of her. At times the snow was quite heavy and the bears could not be seen. These shots were all taken as the snow waxed and waned and played hell with the Auto Focus!

On another note, I have been fighting a bad head cold for the past week. Normally I wouldn't mention this but I'm scheduled for my first cataract surgery tomorrow morning. Just finished with the surgeon's nurse who cleared me to have the surgery as my temperature is back to normal and bronchial coughing has subsided. My second cataract surgery is scheduled for the 24th so don't know if I will be posting much for the next couple of weeks.

First, best of Good Luck with your surgery, Jim. Looking forward to seeing more of your images once you're all "tuned-up".
Second, great sequence here. I have only see one "Griz-in-the-wild", an unexpected encounter that nearly soiled my shorts. So, for my money, a 208mm lens is not nearly long enough. More power to you, fella.

I prefer the first.

The "flow" of the roof sloping downward to the right.

I'm with 'shadow for much the same reason. In our culture, we "read" from-left-to-right. So for me, images that "flow" L-to-R work best. Similarly, I like "ending-up" with the white horse rather than the dark one.

I searched this and could only find threads dating back several years. My question is if any member has compared the low light performance of the D850 vs. the Df? I originally got the Df because it was described as a great low light camera. Of course with the more recent advent of the D850 would the larger pixel of the Df still mean it would perform better in low light, all other things being equal (ceteris parabis according to my long gone econ prof.)?

Davey, do these help?

I often see a poster apologizing for showing an image from their cellphone because their real camera wasn’t available. What constitutes a “real” camera?

For cryin' out loud, David. The simple answer is "Control." Today's cell phones can (I think in most cases) allow one to zoom-in or zoom-out. But they don't allow for changing f/stop for creative effect, or changing the White Balance, again, for creative effect. Or changing focus or shutter speed. "Smart phones" are in effect what shooters years ago would refer to as a "PHD" camera --- Push Here, Dummy. They are simply a recording device.

Thought we might see the Teddy Bears' Picnic going on.

We had a perfect fall drive in SW Colorado the last week of September, 2020. We only get to that area every few years and it is the first time the aspens, cottonwoods and the colorful oak brush were in "full bloom".

Perfect!

This was my one and only attempt at shooting surfing as I don’t own any super telephoto lenses but at the Santa Cruz Pier with the right breaks a 70-200 is adequate. In order to save a little (a lot) paddling the surfers would jump off a point that jutted far out and then paddle parallel to the waves. The gentleman in the two surfing photos, although no youngster was quite competent.

Interesting image, #3. I know that in Chamonix, France skiers have been dropped from helicopters to ski the slopes. Reminds me of that. I wonder if Brent has seen this one.

There are 3 main drops in the Dover Creek just outside Tamarack City Michigan, this being the middle one. The highest waterfall in Michigan, Douglass Houghton Falls, is about 2 miles away on Hammell Creek.

Thanks for posting such a refreshing image during the current heat wave. I feel better already.
