I found this lighting setup on You Tube this morning and thought I would give it a try. I was able to talk my wife into letting me take one picture. I think I had the two back lights a little hot but didn't take the time to correct. Over all I like the results.

I like the look but, just curious, isn't the hair light kind of redundant?

The towers that TF use depend on the phone you use. I have a Samsung Galaxy TF that uses the Verizon towers. My wife has a different phone and it doesn't work where mine does.

We live in the Adirondack Mountains of NY and they have very few towers. The ones that they do have, look like trees. I have a Samsung Verizon network extender that works great. It is a device that plugs into our router and becomes a small Verizon tower. There is no need for a tower anywhere near you. It costs $250 at any Verizon store but they will not sell it to you without a Verizon account. I bought ours for $100 on Craigslist. Just plug it into your router, place the GPS receiver near a window and you have a mini cell tower in your house.

I have one that TMobile supplies for just a $25 deposit with account. I have full bars but there is a delay for a connection up to one minute. I'm not really impressed with the device.

There's a lot of big cats there, unless the people are small. Do you know what the breeds are?

No, I'm not the cat person...my wife is. The size of some of the cats was amazing to me. Due to the conditions or my ineptitude, quite a few of the photos were not acceptable to me so I didn't include them. Some of these cats looked more like Bobcats in size and demeanor!

I posted a few days ago about the problem of switching an iPhone from Straighttalk to TracFone - not possible. Since he couldn't use his iPhone, my son got an LG Ultimate 2 from Best Buy. Unfortunately, that was for use with Net10 only. Back it went. I found a TracFone with triple everything on Amazon and ordered that. Since his iPhone is now with Straighttalk, I wondered if he could carry the same phone number to the new LG. I called TF and asked the question and got transferred three times. The final answer was Yes. I should be able to make the change online, but if that doesn't work, they gave me a phone number and PIN. That PIN is good for only two weeks, though. Strange.

For $100, he can get 1200 min, data, and texts for a year, and I think that will be tripled. That works out to a little over $8.00/month, a bit better than $168 for two phones with Verizon.

I've been using my Samsung Galaxy with TracFone since October, and reception has been fine everywhere I've gone. TF uses Verizon towers.

Jerry, I have been following your "trials and tribulations" with interest. We live less than a quarter mile from a major road (US 19) and get the worse reception I have ever encountered. We have to walk out to the end of the driveway and "hope" we have enough signal to receive a text. I drive an eighth of a mile to make a phone call. My neighbors are in the same situation.

I have used Sprint, ATT, Verizon and now Tmobile. I even have one of the internet devices and it doesn't solve my delima. I just changed one of our phones to an Apple from a Samsung and it does seem to get better reception. I do use Google for a landline but our cell phones have unique numbers for work and friends that we use.

I guess what I am saying is that even though we have come so far with our technology, we still have a long way to go.

Took the wife to a cat show and was amazed at the size and varied coloration. These were shot at high ISO with no flash so are not of the best quality.

I have MetLife insurance, and every three years I can take an online course that reduces my premium by 10%. Although it's online, it's not a breeze, and I have to concentrate. The cost is reasonable, and I can do it at home.

II'm a Moose member. MetLife gives us a 10% discount! :-)

That's a fairly new law in NY, and my son got caught. A cop had a guy pulled over, but my son had no room to move into the left lane, since there was traffic there. It didn't matter, and the cop gave him a ticket, anyway. In court, he pleaded it down to something else and paid about $125.

I saw a cop in MA finish writing a ticket for the car he had pulled over and then chase down a car that didn't move over.

I'm fanatical about obeying traffic laws because the police are so diligent about pulling cars over. Every time I go into town, I see at least one car being given a ticket. We have a four-lane highway with a 45 mph speed limit - lots of tickets issued every day.

EDIT: Something else to watch out for are construction zones. Many states have set up false construction zones manned by police disguised as construction workers. The only purpose for these is to ticket cars that don't slow down to 45, or whatever. Even if there if there is no one in sight and no one working, you can be given a ticket for exceeding the speed limit.

Several years ago, I lived in Tampa across from a middle and elementary school. We had a crew of Sheriffs that would work the area with radar and ticket speeders through the school zone.

The guy with the radar gun would stand with a shopping cart and dressed accordingly would capture the speed of drivers. He had a sign that said he was a police officer and checking speed. Drivers just ignored him to their detriment. I would laugh at the surprise when they pulled drivers into my driveway for tickets.

Same guy would sit on a backend loader with his gun. Even had a write-up in the Tampa paper.

I thought these Sheriffs did a great job and injected some humor into their dealings. Most of the drivers were chagrined and embarrassed by their inattention.

My question is, have any of you done online traffic school for an AZ ticket? and is there anything I should look out for? There are about 100 different contracted safety schools to choose from.

What happened: I got a ticket in AZ 2 weeks ago. I was told by the cop that I could go to traffic school if I hadn't gone in the past year. He also said I could do it on-line. That shoulds good. He also said it would cost about $100 which is cheaper than the $255 fine. Cool. I looked it up and it appears that traffic school will cost about the same as the fine because you still pay all kinds of fees and court costs etc. There are a lot of online schools to choose from.

I know you are all wondering what I got the ticket for and most would assume speeding. Nope. I got it for not changing from the right lane to the left lane when there was a vehicle on the shoulder displaying flashing lights. In this case it was a AZ Highway Patrol with his lights flashing but he was by himself and he was well off the road. I slowed from 75 to 70 and then sped back up to 75 after passing him. I was shocked when he pulled out, got behind me and pulled me over.

There's no doubt that he was looking for unsuspecting California drivers to give tickets like this to. What a scam.

Don't know about AZ, but it's the law in Florida to either move over or to slow down to, I believe, 40 MPH or less. Too many accidents with emergency vehicles. Unfortunately I have no input on the traffic school.

An interesting thought.

Origionally I thought I took photos from every which way. By that I mean with my "people" photos I have some facing forward, backward, left and right, et cetera. Now that I look at most of my albums and photo books, that isn't so.

Sure I capture shots from everywhere but a good 60% of my keeper side shots, seems to be a right side shot. Again, by that I mean the basic body or face appears to be from stage right looking or going towards the left.

Has anyone else ever noticed there photos favoring left or right? Even front or back!

I tend to take portraits on the side the subject parts their hair. As this tends to be their left (my right) most of my photos tend to be in this direction. I generally have my lighting from my right as well.
