My younger daughter and her husband have a rescue farm in RI. My daughter treats each as a pet and takes it very hard when they pass. I feel your pain, Jo. Hope you get another bird soon.

Thank you Elliott. I've now lost my last dog and my last bird. At my age, I'd worry constantly about what might happen to another one if something happened to me first. Also, I'm not so sure I could go through that again.

So sorry to hear.

We lost our rescue pup of 13 years last month.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I know how that hurt. I lost my last dog, (2 pound Yorkie) also a rescue, a few months ago and it leaves a hole in your heart that is very painful for a long time.

So sorry to hear this, Jo. I have always had pets and have always had a soft spot for parrots. I know how difficult it is to lose one.
Please accept my sympathies.

Thank you. Very kind of you! I love birds. They are so much smarter than most people ever realize and many are cuddlers.

Been through this too many times. Get another pet Jo--soon.

I'm afraid to Jack. At my age I'd worry about what would happen to it if something happened to me AND I'm not sure I could handle that pain again.

Lost my dog a week ago. Died of old age under the dinning table.
I'll be coming home next week and Im sure id be crying then. Sorry for your loss. There really is nothing that can help ease the pain. We just have to endure.

I'm so sorry you lost your dog. They are our babies. They can't live without us and it leaves an empty spot when you've had them with you for so long. The deeper you love, the harder you grieve.

You must be blind , numerous hand guns on 3 days . I have nothing against guns , but i thought there where too many .About putting a limit of 2 or 3 per day . Now , complaining about a member only 2 photos posted in his life , they could be more if it was easier to do ..

JMHO...if there were 50 of them in one day and I didn't want to see them, I find it so easy to scroll on.

My husband's sister married the man who kept our country from being overthrown by the communists in 1945. He was Herbert A. Philbrick. The name may sound familiar to many of you. Some of you may remember his story. It was made into a TV series called "I Led Three Lives".
It was strange that when they came to visit, our local newspaper knew they were there. I have newspaper clippings of him in my front yard in Tn.
One time when they were there, we all watched one of the re-runs (They still have some on YouTube) and during the show, I asked him if they played it up to make it scary. He said "no, they played it down to keep from scaring the American public to death".

Wow, that's a neat story!

But sometimes we just wish we knew more. Pictures, journals and videos would be cherished items for so many.

I understand how you feel, lady. We are without a "pet' for the first time in our marriage.............w are too old to start again. Our hearts are as heavy as yours. So sad for you!

Thank you. I was born into a family with pets and have never been without one for even one day in my whole 86 years, until now.
Losing a parrot is as bad as losing a dog. They are our babies.

I'm gonna miss you yelling "Mimi, c'mere" and "I wanna backed potato" (for 25 years).
It's OK that you couldn't say "baked".
Gonna miss sharing my peaches, grapes, bananas, green peas, green beans and cheerios with you.
I loved hearing you yell "Mimi". I knew the answer was supposed to be "What Kiwi?" but but I loved hearing you fuss at me when I just said "what?".
This is the first time in my life I have been without a pet and you were the last.

These are wonderful photos. I'm glad to see you here. I haven't seen you in such a long time.
You have definitely not lost your touch with a camera!
