I shot weddings for 20 years. My wife came along to help me in the summer of 1999. After a couple of weddings she convinced me to give them away. Never been happier since.

The answer is one of the few photographers good enough to make a living from this precarious endeavour.

Iv'e used both dry bags and a small pelican type case for my Sony A7R with 16-35mm plus filters and accessories. I bungee strap the case to the deck and only unclip it when there is a good photo opportunity. I Also have a paddle strap attached to the case. This offers the most protection overall specially when moving the case in and out of the Kayak and also when camping out. But I do feel a little uneasy when the case is open for longer periods on my lap. I also have a small Velbon ultra tripod strapped to the font and have taken some great shots in some very remote places.

I used Fotomagico 3.8.8 to make a 60 minute DVD on Tasmania. I have been selling this movie for a number of years. Fotomagico is not cheap but it's a great program.

I own both Iridient Developer and Capture One 8. You want go wrong with either. Overall I prefer and use Capture One for my landscape shots. No need to get hooked in Adobe cloud monthly subscriptions.

I would recommend the Sony Zeiss 16-35mm F4 lens. It's a great lens! Stay away from the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8. I used one on my Canon 5D11 and it was great but I sold it with all of my Canon gear. Last year I purchased the new E-mount version of the same lens for my A7R but it was not sharp at the edges. I might be wrong but in my experience the Sony camera and sensor seems to dislike a lot of wider lenses. I have tried an use many other older legacy lenses 35mm and longer with great success.

If you shoot wide I would recommend the Sony 10-18mm, it's a great lens. Very light for a wide zoom and it's image circle will almost cover full frame.

I have been a professional landscape photographer for 25 years and only screw on a protection filter if the weather gets really bad. I have put a couple of small marks on some of my lenses over that time. I have never noticed any effects from these marks on any of my images.

I prefer mirrorless over an SLR because I am 61 years old and can no longer see the external dials on a camera without glasses. With a mirrorless I can see all of the information I need though the viewfinder before I take a shot. The Histogram, the exact exposure , manual focus magnification, image replay ect. And I no longer have to use a loop to see the LCD screen.

I'm a professional landscape photographer and currently use a Sony A7R mirrorless camera. I use aperture-priority most of the time because when you turn the camera on you see the correct viewing brightness though the viewfinder. When I shoot landscapes aperture selection has always been my first and most important consideration because aperture selection controls the DOF in all of my images.

The 12mm Rokinon Full Frame Fisheye is a great lens. Sharp to the extreme edge. I still shoot with the A7R and don't have any noise issues. But I only shoot landscapes from a tripod at low ISO.

Hi John, My lens is super sharp right out to the edges. I have made 25 x 38"prints that match anything that I have made from 4x5 trannys. Try using your lens on manual focus. Open the aperture to F4 first then move the focussing rectangle to approximately "about" a third of the way into the scene. Magnify, focus then close the aperture down to around F8-13 to get the desired depth of field required. I also recommend using a sturdy tripod and a 2 second delay.

I have been a professional landscape photographer for many years. I used large format view camera's for 25 years. I switched from Canon to Sony when the A7R came out and have adapted all sorts of lenses to this camera. My most used and best lens is the Sony Zeiss 16-35mm.

I'm a bit late but also consider the German professional image processing program called PhotoLine https://www.pl32.com/pages/imaging.php

I would go with a Sony A6000 APSC if you are wanting more power from your old lenses or a Sony A7 full frame 50mm = 50mm. You want be disappointed with the quality of either but the full frame camera will have a slight edge with a greater tonal range. I use an A7R with a Zeiss 16-35mm plus older Nikkor lenses and some have tilt adapters.
