You can stick your racist accusations of racism where the sun doesn't shine. Fact that you feel compelled to resort to name calling is due to the weakness of your position.

IMO Obama's election is clear evidence of extended adolescence.
Gross error was made back in the 1960's in giving the Vote to 18yo who were not in the military.

I say raise the minimum age to 25yo and actual payment of tax dollars in three of last five years.

The only ones who bring up racism are the liberal backers who have nothing else to talk about. The liberal motto is: 'If they want you to have an opinion, they will give it to you.

Than, as true liberals, force their principles on the rest of us.
If congress doesn't want to create laws to enforce any of it, an executive order comes from the white house to do it.

Can you say 'Un-Constitutional' boys and girls ??

I think that's a pretty broad condemnation you are drawing, and "criminal and corrupt" is a pretty strong damnation for the entire organization. If that's true we're really in the deep kimshee. The answer is to vote them all out after a couple of terms!

A question for lobbyists: Is purporting to believe something, even if you have personal reservations, and accepting or charging a fee to represent/lobby for that belief morally different from those who accept the money, campaign contributions, vacations, home improvements, stock tips, etc. for voting a certain way or trying to influence the vote whether they believe it or not?

If you want to lobby your congressman for something, do it your self(s) or start a letter writing campaign, hiring pros to do it for you adds another distasteful level and odor to it.

I agree with gmcase. The whole system is full of corruption going right to the top of the Executive Branch. Obummer has been doing things that are clearly un-sonstitutional and it's allowed to trickle down through all of the agencies in one form or another.
The only way to start correcting the situation is to fumigate D.C. in November.

An account? The money is inserted into the general treasury. Had there been a legitimate account which was made safe from our greedy blood-sucking politicians, I doubt this would be a topic for discussion. It is the sticky fingered politicians that have pilfered the contributions.
"Daily expenses" includes much more than SS, medicare, and disability however.

That is the point I was making.

I have never believed that social security is going broke. Medicare, on the other hand may be legitimately in trouble.
I think there is an inherent shady claims by doctors, hospitals, and a growing number of both legitimate and illegitimate claims for signing up for disability which places a deeper burden on the system.
It may be too late to salvage any attempt to provide solvency to the program. Although I truly believe the original intent was good, it is the perverse use of the money by our representatives that has caused this, not the recipients.

Do you understand that there aren't any 'accounts' that have a positive balance ??
The government is borrowing money to pay regular daily expenses.

Social Security running out of money? What about Welfare, Unemployment, cash for clunkers, free cell phones for people who didn't work for them, etc.? Are these programs running out of funding? Funny we don't hear about or question these give-a-way programs.

All of the money they take from those who pay taxes goes into the general fund which is less than just the interest that is owed on a daily basis.
The regular operating expenses is borrowed adding to the national debt that the ceiling was just raised with no limit for one year.
If we don't manage to clean House and Senate in November, I feel that will be the point of no return if we haven't already crossed it.

The biggest problem we have with congress people is that they have the notion that they know what is best for us and will continue with their agenda no matter how much complaining is done from the non-annointed ones that they rule over.

You have it upside down. In Fascist Italy, the corporations controlled government. Essentially, Mussolini was a spokesperson serving a conglomerate of the most powerful corporations in Italy. Deregulation shifts power to corporations, which is exactly what leads to Fascism.

Only when government and any business are in bed together is what spawns corruption.

From your reply I see you are the one that really doesn't understand what happened.

The housing crisis started when a Wall Street banking employee ( a young women in her twenties I believe.....if necessary I can find out her name) realized they could sell risk by bundling up risky mortages and selling them as securities. The risk of all them failing was considered remote, the remainder would carry them through, or so the thought was. The riskier the loans, the higher the interest rate and the more the security was worth on the market. These were further bundled up and truncated. The bankers knew they were risky and sold them to pension funds and others. Knowing they were bad investments they insured them for loss even though they did not own the truncated mortages. They were able to insure for losses they did not incur and did not own, unlike life insurance. This is what brought AIG to near bankrupcy. The government bailed out AIG to prevent a total collapse of the financal markets. They let Lehman Bros. sink, for some reason

Your belief that Clinton was to blame is only partially true. The clinton adminstration wanted to stop lenders from red lining neighborhoods. The rest the bankers did themselves, as stated above. Don't believe all you hear on right wing radio.

Lets keep this civil. No more comments like, "you know so very little, the subject that you have chosen to interject yourself is a bit deeper than your cute little nippy reply... ". This type of reply is juvenile and all too common on this forum.

It was because of Dodd and Frank that the mortgages that the banks were forced to loan out, with little to no collateral, were bad. It was the need for the companies to stay in business that they didn't want to be holding the loans when they crashed. So with some creative trades, they managed to pass them off to someone else. If it weren't for the government, banks would still be more critical of who they loaned to.

The bottom line is: When ever government gets involved in business, we all lose.

I suggest looking for a used 70-200 2.8 IS.
I got one from my local dealer for $900 who sold it to a customer just 3 mos before with a 50D, which I also bought to go with my other 50D.

The lens I run through the woods chasing birds is a 300 2.8 IS, but when I'm traveling for work I keep the 70-200 with me.
