I like the photograph and agree there must be other good opportunities for great shots.
I do want to insert my 2 cents and suggest this barn was used for storing hay.
First, the large, rounded entrance along the long side of the barn. Just the right construction for a "heaped" hay wagon to go through.
Second, I believe the area in front of the left end door was probably a corral only the fencing is now gone. That door was for the animals to go in and out.

That's why I have MY T2i! She's not allowed to go near it on laundry day! LOL!

If a camera is anything like a cell phone when they hit the water, towel it off, take out the battery & towel it off. Put both in a bowl of Brown rice. Turn them over once a day. The rice is supposed to draw out the water.
You probably will end up at the store, but this way you might have a back-up.

the only issue with using an external flash on your point and shoot camera might be overload from the flash. Since it has at least 4 AA batteries in it, it could draw too much power from your camera sensor when in use. However, if you have a newer camera it might have overload protection built in. Also, the flash is configured and balanced to run off a Canon camera. Your point and shoot is a Canon so the issues might be limited. It mostly depends on the strength of the older flash and whether or not it's completely compatible with the new camera. I would suggest caution and to only use one flash at a time with your camera instead of 2. 2 might overload the point and shoot because of how much power it draws. Electronics can be very tricky and finicky...

Your dad gave you an older camera with the flash units, I'd suggest giving them a try to see what you can do and learn with a DSLR, you might be surprised at the results and quality.

Thanks! I do use an older Canon DSLR so I'm hoping there will be no issues. One of the members pointed me to a sight that may provide the answer. I'm giving it a try right now.

Thanks for the warning... Might be just the thing to cause me to upgrade 😄

Colored covers for the flash can add a great deal of interest to an image. You can change the color of the background by shooting it with a coloered flash.

I hope you don't mind, I included a pic of a colored flash used on the background.

A color flash can sure can add to an other wise good photograph! I don't have a high interest in flash photography, except for family snapshots. I'll hang onto the colored flash covers, but I'm mostly interested in natural light.

Thanks for your advise and the inclusion of the example helped get your point across.

Thank you. That's good to hear. What is your opinion of colored plastic covers for the flash head? Under what conditions would they be used?

Similar for sale on eBay (value comparison):

I doubt if you can harm your Canon DSLR camera with a speedlight made for a Canon film SLR. A large camera store may have answers.

My father gave me his Hanimex tz3 36A twin flash unit and a Canon T70 film camera. The flash appears to work with my Canon Powershot Pro1 camera. I have some questions: Is it possible to damage my camera using this flash even though it does function? It seems to be a more powerful flash than the built in flash on my camera plus the head is adjustable. Is it a better flash?
The flash came with 4 attachments: a clear diffuser cover, a red cover, a green cover and a purple cover. All of these snap onto the strobe. Where would I use them? Would I want to?
Any and all help will be appreciated.

Bootcamp is in the Utilities folder in Mac Lion OS (I use Lion). If "I'm desperate" has their Micro Soft install disk for Vista OS (I think) or newer they can use the Bootcamp software, included with Lion and not purchase any new software. I'm not saying this is an optimal solution, but I am saying it is an inexpensive, possibly free, solution. Also, this solution also allows them to use other MS compatible software they might own on their new Mac.

If you're running a recent version of Mac OS 10, you should be able to partition your hard drive with a utility already a part of your OS software. Once you do that, load Microsoft OS into the partition and your PC software. When you start up your Mac you will then be given the option of booting up using the Mac or the PC operating system. Good luck. I'm a mac user myself.

Thanks for you input. I'll try different levels of contrast and see if I can come up with something I like better. Should I be using a different program for adjusting areas that need additional focusing?

Kimberly and I were hiking in the early spring when I happened to catch her reflection in a frozen, shallow pool of water. I liked the effect and took the picture (I'm sorry I forgot to ask her to lose the cell phone but I didn't notice it at the time). I have rotated the orientation 180 degrees.
I seems to me a little "fuzzy" around some of the grass. Any ideas on how to sharpen out-of-focus areas within a picture? I just purchased Elements 10 but I don't know how to use it yet. I figure this might be a picture to learn on. Any thoughts or comments will be appreciated.

That's the type of criticism I am looking for. I'll try to apply it next time out when I'm wearing boots!

I took the pictures with a Canon PowerShot Pro 1 which I usually use in manual mode. I fiddle with the pics with Aperture, a program I am still learning how to use.

The leaves were over-head so I had no control over the background.

If this is a double post, sorry, but I may have messed up on my first try.

Since it is too dark to take pictures before 9AM or after 4PM I had to try this on my lunch break.

I would appreciate comments on these photos and what would improve them. Thanks!

Thanks for reply.
I've never had a dark room so I've never printed and cropped my own prints. I like the digital photography, because I know what I'm getting right away and I can shoot it again if I have to. I'm also comfortable with computers. Digital seems to be my niche.
