I don't have a 430 but I think it is similar to other Canon flashes in that it does not have an optical slave mode (Perhaps I am wrong; the 508exii does not have an optical slave mode). My suggestion is to get a set of wireless transmitters (Yongnou RF-603 or similar) to accomplish this type of behavior. If you want TTL level control, try a set of Yongnou YN-622C transceivers. The 430 can not act as masters and the 6D does not have a flash to use for Canon flash based TTL control. Alternatively, a shoe mounted optical slave could be used with one 430 on camera and the second attached to the shoe optical slave. I never had very consistent success with this type of arrangement, however. Another more expensive solution might be to buy a third party flash capable of being a master flash (YN-580 or similar).

The 580ex can be used as a master or slave.
The 430ex can only work as a slave.
The ST-E2 will work as a master to any slave capable speedlite.

EOS cameras come with an EOS utility program you can use to capture images and video capture using LiveView.

I use an ST-E2 for a master when not using my 580ex.

I have a dealer nearby who takes trades and sells used.
You may benefit by finding one that does the same near you.
Both the t3i and t5i take video.

I am assuming that anyone working on JPEGs will do so on a duplicate so that the data is always preserved in the original, untouched jpeg.

When your camera saves as a jpg it has already compressed it and removed data, so when you edit it and save it again you are losing more.
I shoot raw and convert to png mostly as it is lossless and does not compress.

If all you do with raw files is some sharpening, you will be better off just shooting jpeg.

That depends on how much quality you want to keep.
Each time you save and re-save a JPG file, it re-compresses the file therefore getting rid of detail that it thinks is not necessary to keep.

Your 7D has its own wireless transmitter that will fire the 430ex using ETTL without the need for another type.

It might be more useful to respond with some thing LR can't do.

It does not create or manipulate layers.
No direct access to color channels other than levels and curves.
No image compositing.
Masking limited to brushed in effects, vertical & horizontal & circular gradients.

What remains is most other post processing adjustments. Most of the missing capabilities, above, can be handled by third party plug-ins.

You just described Aperture as well.
I convert my RAW files to .PNG to avoid compressing them and losing detail.

My RAW files go directly to Aperture where I can select a batch to export into many different formats. I prefer .PNG format which is lossy and does not get compressed. PC's recognize .PNG as well as it does .JPG.

Hoot, the Repubs don't have your back. I'm very serious about this. I think people should vote for who does them the most good, that's why I am a Democrat. I know that while the Dems are in office, my stocks go up, I prefer their social agenda, etc. but the vets are being defunded slowly by the Repubs. If they get in total control, there will be no VA if they can press their agenda through. They think of big business and sorry, but the vets mean nothing to them.

Did you bother to find out what the Obummercare team put in the bill as pork, then blame the others for not passing it ??

I shot a wedding earlier this month. Even though you would like a 2.8 lens, you still want to shoot at f/8 or higher to get your DOF which required me to use flash.
I shot with a 50D and a 24-105 f/4, ISO 100 and 580ex set for ETTL.
My shots were so much better than someone shooting the same shots with a 70D and a 50mm 1.8.

Nothing keeping you from stopping down the 50 and mounting a flash.

The point I was trying to make is that a fast lens is not necessary if using flash. And most venues don't have enough available light to shoot without losing DOF, so flash is needed with a smaller aperture to get the DOF that is desirable.
I would love to have the 5D mark III, and I would still be using the same lenses with the flash for the same reason I stated above.
