The term generally used to describe this is known as "focus breathing" or "lens breathing". It's a variation in angle of view between the two lenses when zooming/focusing. Higher quality lenses tend to control this effect much better than lower quality lenses, hence why your Canon looks much better than your Tamron. There are many articles on the web about this, just do a general search for focus breathing, I hope this helped you out.

This is an example of "Not Your Typical Seagull", I found this guy on a pond this past fall with a flock of ducks and Canada geese. Not a BIF but, a BOW, just that the gull title of the discussion caught my attention.

Cly, awesome captures, right place at the right time. I can see that Fuji kit is treating you right, straight out the box. Congratulations on your new camera, now get out there and shoot.

I've also got the Sigma 150-600mm, it too was shooting soft with front focusing issue. Purchased the Sigma USB dock, set up on a tripod and tuned the lens to the available focal lengths in the software. It took a couple of hours to go through the entire series (16 adjustable focal distances). Once that was done took it out for a test drive and found all my front focusing issues were resolved.

Why is everyone trying to take pictures as far away as possible? You are playing zoom every time you take a picture, and the farther away the better. If you had started using a prime lens and learned the basics of photography, your photographs would have more appeal. You give no information as to how the picture was taken. F stop, shutter, ISO, tripod.

All that info is on the second image that was posted, ISO-320, f/5.6 and shutter speed of 1/640.

Another option, which hasn't been mentioned. Have you used your in camera focus fine tune for this lens camera combination? You may find it's front or back focusing, the greater the distance the deeper the depth of field and the greater the front or back focusing issue. Just a thought.

You may have to get a transmitter/receiver set, not just a transmitter.

I have a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon SB25 flash. I would like to avoid purchasing a new flash. The SB25 seems to work well with Auto and Manual modes on camera. I would like to have the ability to use off camera flash with this combo. Can anyone recommend a sync cord that is both compatable and reliable?

In looking at the manual online, your flash might not support wireless shooting. Here's a clipping, I only see information for cabled attachment. Here's a link to the manual

I love the Phottix Odin system.
The Odin II looks even better, but is more expensive than the Yongnou.
I had one of those, but the menu system and instructions were not intuitive.

Cool, I'll check it out, thanks.

Yep, even the D70 had it.
Transmission is infrared so it doesn't work around corners like radio, but it's an included feature.
I've used the SU-800 transmitter outside in full sunlight.

I'm in the market for a transmitter myself. Secondary reaction to my recent GAS attack, no pop up/commander on the D500. Gotta say though, not a deal breaker, mainly for field use; it's a beast!
