Larry why don't you send me a personal line on when you might be passing through Lyons CO on your way to Rocky Mtn Park? I would love to meet you. Cliff
Sorry I didn't get to your post sooner. Wonderful shots of RNMP, I especially liked morning photo of Bowen Baker Gulch. What camera did you use? I realize the skill behind your camera. These are excellent photos on your link. Thanks. Cliff
Thanks Jerry, I have a much better grasp of full frame vs cropped sensor attributes and limitations now. For wildlife and nature photo subjects, I would want both a FF and a crop sensor camera depending on the shot. Wonder if its possible to combine two sensors ( FF and crop) in one camera. To quote Blunty, a talking head photo critic, it might be "gobsmackingly" expensive. I know this is fantastical thinking, sort of like having a shotgun and rifle in the same weapon.
Drive 55 miles northwest from Denver Airport on Hwy 36 through Boulder, and Lyons to Rocky Mountain National Park. Ask ranger at park entrance for directions to Trail Ridge Road. Drive to top of Trail Ridge Rd where you can see mountain vistas on either side. Park on designated area on south side and take trail on south side toward Forest Canyon. Landscape shots of Rocky Mountains and Forest Canyon are breathtaking.
I noticed the poppies were finally ready to bloom in our yard in Lyons CO. The second and third shots were taken 90 minutes after the first shot

Beautiful. Where might Turkey River Valley be?
Great action! Photo # 3 is remarkable full frame action. Did you crop this photo?
Love the first one. Must be a pretty quick shutter response time on the SX50.
That slope feeds into the deepest, least visited canyon in Rocky Mountain National Park called Forest Canyon. I walk in from Moraine Park trail a couple of miles then leave the trail to walk over a ridge to get back to Big Thompson river which is now in Forest Canyon (which is at the bottom of picture #3). Once in the canyon I string up my fly rod and try to coax the pretty greenback cutthroat trout to sip my mayfly imitation so I can view their beauty. Then I let them go. Forest Canyon is my favorite spot in Colorado.

I will take it an hour sooner and try to separate the flowers. Thanks for input.
You send us shots of your flowers. Cliff
Especially the second pic the red flower. All shots taken with IPad camera. Waiting for my first camer to be delivered. Second spot also cropped which on a one megapixel photo makes it pretty soft. I have never owned a camera before and I am 61. Never been a priority until now. Now I can see it being an avocation.
