Exactly ( in the US anyway) but to be clear..."non commercial" specifically means "not used to advertise a product or service"

It doesn't mean that you can't make a profit from a photograph or sell it or publish it or print it or post it.

no one will buy it without a model release

agree with the others. The UV is for protection more than anything else.

And then when you do break the uv filter, the glass from the UV filter scratches your lens.

I'd like to share my photos as links to slideshows with music. Can anyone give me advice about the best way to accomplish this?

Proshow Gold by Phototdex is the one I use exclusively.

Sometimes I like to bring two cameras when I go out shooting. I have one with a tele and the other with a wide angle. I use an OP/Tech double strap arrangement to carry one on each shoulder.

I'm wondering how many of you carry two cameras when you're out shooting or when you go on vacation. On the one hand, you don't have to stop and change lenses, but on the other, you have to carry two cameras.

I always have two cameras when I go out shooting. I should say, at least two. The digital cameras are electronic and the question is not if it falls.... It is WHEN it fails. It will fail at some point. So a second body is always at hand. Then I usually also have with me, my film camera. In that case there are two bodies also. Yes even when I go out with the medium format camera, the case for them has two bodies. Actually a seperate case for lens'. Because I was not smart enough to own two of the same body. I have a Hassie and a Mamiya. What was I thinking? Oh.... Yes, I have had to put the second digital body to work when I had a minor problem with the first body.

I read where you fixed it but my question to myself if I were in a similar situation would be , "Do I trust this card enough to take pics of a onetime event?"

Probably not. I would replace the card.

Fully agree with Gary!

I also have bent the same single pin in both of my Canon 10 D's. I found that my card had a defective port. Were you able to have the pin fixed?

I shall never again take another card out of my camera!
Thanks,
Sonny

There is no such thing as if the card fails. You have to say when the card fails. They will fail!!

I use 4gig cards with my Nikon and carry at least 10 cards with me at all times. Shoot, change the card. shoot change the card. Then download the images from the cards to the computer. This way when a card fails, I only have the possibility of losing up to 4 gig of images. That is if I can not restore the images from the disc.

I have never had a problem with a bent pin, but then I am real careful on installing the card in the camera. Now some of the newer cameras are using SD cards with no pins. Which does make them a lot easier when changing the cards.

The lens is the kit lens that came woth the camera, the polarizer is a Tiffen, the mode is aperture priority, and the ƒstop is 8.

When shooting in aperture priority, what is the shutter speed? Is the shutter too fast so as to underexpose the shot?

Here I go again asking questions about printed photos. Why do photos look so awesome on the computer until I get them printed ugh! I like tonget printed to make my scrapbbook albums and then I kinda disappointed with the results. Ttey don't look super sharp, yet they are definitely in focus. I had photos printed that I took at the Milwaukee zoo and they turned out fantastic. Since those I have never been excited about the results. I can't figure it out. They look flat or something. Anybody ever feel this way. I want to get good results. I am taking them to SAMs club. I know of several people that go there and are extremely satisfied. Maybe I'm too picky???

Another thing to consider is the type of paper you are printing on. This can vary the final print by a lot. Also the print settings. Make sure that the settings for printing match the paper you are using. You might have the setting at plain paper when you are actually printing on luster or gloss paper. For final prints, you can not use just any paper. Need to use Epson, Ilford, Red River etc etc. paper to get the highest quality print.

It has happened again. I was playing "Angry Birds" on the computer, and my finger slipped, and I accidentally ordered the Sigma 150-500. I hope it isn't too late.

Similiar thing happened to me. I was trying to type blend, and typed lens and a Nikon 24-120 F4 VR showed up at my door a few days later. Cant figure out how that happened.

So i have several rolls of old slide film, any suggestions on what to do with it other than toss it?

Know anybody with a film body? Shoot a roll and process it. Slide film will show you just exactly how good (or how bad) a photographer you really are!

Is processing still possible? I know Kodachrome processing is no longer available.

Processing is still available. There are quite a few labs out there that still process film. Stored in the frig, it should be OK.

You have to make sure it dissolves fully. If it doesn't, it might get stuck in your throat and give you a stiff neck.

I have noticed that, for example, after finidhing a shoot in the field, The card may have an indicated remaining photos of, say, 246.

The next morning, the remaining capacity has grown to 256 or so. It has found additional capacity overnight.

My interpretation of this phenomenon, is that the camera is working while I sleep to fill in the blanks where files have been deleted and shuffle things around the regain the lost spots. Something like defragmenting on the hard drive.

A possibility of this occurring could be dirty glasses?
