Superb job Alma. Your doing a great job and I admire your efforts considering your affliction. You've got a great eye for nice pictures. My wife and I have driven by Sikeston many times on the southern route (US62) from Nashville to Springfield Mo to visit family in Missouri. We love stopping at Boomland just to look around at all the stuff they have and to top off on fuel. We've ate at Lamberts a time or two. Love the rolls they throw at you which is fun. I often remember you as we pass by. Lots of flat land and huge farms in your area. I finally got some nice shots of the Sikeston powerplant on my last trip through the past May. So glad your able to still enjoy photography.

Yes Lamberts has the best rolls. The owner of Lamberts at one time was my husbands teacher. Unfortunately Mr. Lambert felt it necessary to commit suicide a few years back. I think health problems. He was a good man. Lamberts is still going strong.

Nice shots. I can certainly understand your problem. I am 91 and have bad lower back problems and severe tremor in my right hand so many of my photos are from my car. Just have to keep on Keepin On. Oh yeah, I lived in southeast Missouri (Kennett and Malden) for the first 34 years of my life and frequented Mingo, Lake Wappapello, Piedmont, Clearwater Lake, Sikeston and surrounding areas.

We are in Sikeston. Ever go to Lamberts for some throwed rolls?

Very nice set. I take many photos from my truck and find it makes a good "blind" in many cases. By the way, that's not a Mallard, it's a Northern Shoveler. So Mallard may still be on your bucket list.

Ahhhh thanks for the info.

Some beautiful shots. Brought a tear to my eye: My dad had polio when he was a child, walked with a limp, and was an avid photographer (slides, he died before digital became mainstream). I salute you.

Thank you.

These are excellent shots. I hope you used a long lens on the snake.lol.
Would love to see more of your work. I hear you about having difficulty moving around. I turned 78 in July. There are a lot of hogs in their 80's so I'm not using that as a excuse. I love the turtle.
Take care and keep shooting

Actually the snake was on the roadway at Mingo Wildlife Preserve near Piedmont, MO. I hollered SNAKE and my husband stopped the car and asked Where? I said right beside my car door. So I took some from the window which he had his mouth wide open already. But my husband has to get out and poke him with a stick. Later we saw a show telling how far they can jump to bite you so don't think he will poke anymore with a stick.....

Posting a few of my favorites. I might add I had polio as a kid and no longer able to walk on unlevel ground so I take 90 percent of my pictures out the car window. A great hobby for older folks, which I am...… Hope you enjoy. I will post more later. Think I reached my limit on this post....lol

Shows how tiny the hummingbird is.

We found this Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly last week. First one I ever saw in the wild. Beautiful thing.

This shows how to tell the difference. Top one is a Viceroy Butterfly. Bottom is a Monarch. The most notable sign is the Viceroy has lines across the bottom wings. The Monarch does not. Took both these at the same area last week.

I like that quote.. The squirrels are so entertaining. Love watching them. But they do eat all the bird seed.

Very cute picture. But I'm curious, now that he has it, what's he going to do with it?

He wanted to carry it but couldn't figure out how to do it. At one time he was digging the dirt by it like he wanted to bury it like they do corn in our yard. One year in the spring two of our neighbors had corn growing all over their front yards..... Bet they wondered where in the world the corn came from.

I just learned that the female looks nothing like the male. We have tons of them around here but just thought both looked alike. Now I watch for the female too. Very different between the male and female.
