OK..."cattle guards"!
I learned a new word today. Cool! Thank You.
Are they called cattle guards only in Texas and get another name in...Oregon/Washington/Maine?

Cattle guards is the common name for them anywhere I have ever been in the US.

Real cowboys don't ride mules :-) LOL

Oh. but they do....at least in AZ. Much more sure footed on the rough, rocky terrain. Not all cowboys, of course. I know several real Cowboy's that won't ride anything but mules.

Interesting take on Win 11 update, last paragraph sums it up well.
MS makes no money on updates. If the update makes 50 million or so older
computers (in the US alone) obsolete and MS sells 50 million copies of Win 11
at say $50.00 each (just a guess of price) that works out to some real money.
......Now do that worldwide.
The system tester says neither of my laptops will run it, and if it is like previous
new systems it is just a matter of time till till my programs will update to run
on the new platform but my computer will not so I will end up with a new computer.

I was hoping someone else had a similar experience & to let everybody know about how they held up. It's not critically important if I lose one or both cards. I check them every day & although it's interesting to see what type of creatures invade the garden, it won't hurt to lose a day's worth of video or photos. I do thank everyone who responded.

I have a game camera set up by my pond. I take the SD card out once a month, stick it in my pocket until I get back to the house, sometimes several hours (I am on a working farm and am in and out of my SxS) many times daily. More than once the SD card has gone through the wash/dry cycle. The card has never failed me. The camera has been on the same tree for a year now. Summer heat, winter snow and lots of rain. Never a hiccup from the camera or SD card.

What this all has to do with photography, I have no idea.

I (and I suspect many others here on UHH) can remember when "Made in Japan" was considered a pejorative term to describe cameras, lenses and many other products too.

Many, many years ago when beer cans were made of tin, I was stationed in Japan. I bought a nice little briefcase. Used it while in Japan and brought it back to the States with me. I managed to drop it and break the front latches. Lo and behold, the latch was stamped out of a Black Label beer can! Still had the printing on the inside.

Once you have 2 milwaukee cordless batteries you can buy the tools without the battery and charger and save some money.

We actually have several chargers located around the shop. Milwaukee sometimes has package deal sales where you get a battery and charger along with the tool for nut much more than the tool alone. We have a farm so we have a wide variety of tools from impact wrenches to grease guns.

...hmmm, I may go for the Ryobi since I've collected a bunch of the "One" tools and my corded Makita is getting on 25 years old. That company (Ryobi) has come a long way...I recall jabbing my electrician because he used that brand years ago when their quality was suspect. Since, I've been ripped off a couple of times and went from Makita to Rigid to, now, Ryobi, because the tools are solid!...haha. My mechanic swears by the Milwaukee impact and it's a great, strong as hell, tool, but very expensive in comparison.

My son in law and I have a large shop full of Milwaukee cordless tools. I used to use Ridgid tools exclusively until we did side by side comparisons. Milwaukee won hands down. Cheap? No. Quality? Yes. Milwaukee tools were quieter, usually lighter, much better battery life and just seemed easier to use. Their impacts are simply unbeatable. We have both there 18v and 12 v systems.

In the name of security Amazon Customer Service has instituted Customer Abuse. A few days ago I was prompted to change my Amazon password, which I did. Today I tried to sign in with the new password and got a message that they are sending me a verification email. The email never arrived (no it's not in my spam folder) and I requested it be resent 5 times after waiting for the countdown clock to expire each time, and it still never came.

So I called customer service and this lady started to ask me questions to verify my account, my name, address, zipcode, the last 4 digits on my credit card, my credit card expiration date, my last three Amazon purchases, the amount of the gift card I purchased. Then she said she had more questions and asked for the balance on my Amazon gift card account. I say I can't get that because I have to logon to see that balance and I am calling her because I can't logon. Then after waiting for her computer to generate more questions she asks for the ID code of my last purchase printed on my checking account statement.

At this point I log on to my bank and start looking for the code, and I tell the lady she is abusing me and how many more questions will there be. She says she doesn't know but has to keep asking questions. I tell her again she is abusing me as a customer and she hangs up.

I call back and ask to speak to a supervisor but just get an arrogant sadistic man who says there's nothing he can do, I have to start answering the questions all over again. I said this is crazy and I won't do business with Amazon if they can't resolve this with just three more questions. He answers real arrogantly "would you like me to cancel your account?" I say sure and call him a torrent of filthy names at which he laughs and hangs up.

That's why I'll never use Amazon again. Of course I couldn't if I wanted to because I can't log on. I spent 7 years working in credit card authorization for American Express and authorized purchases of many thousands, once even $250K at an international airport on a Sunday night, faster and with fewer questions to verify the card holder's identity than Amazon can to reset my logon.

I am emailing a copy of this post directly to Jeff Bezos jeff@amazon.com, just to see if he or his team gives a crap.

..............

This is the email I sent Jeff Bezos.

to jeff, me

I posted this on the City Data Retirement Forum today. Just wonder if you care. I'm not holding my breath. I saw you on a TV interview recently and wonder how a person as bright as you could entrust your company's reputation and future to a bunch of morons.

Attached is a screen shot of my post and why I am never using Amazon again, even though I have a cash balance on my gift card..

Sounds like a scam call. Not from Amazon. I get two to three deliveries per week from them.

Recently had two returns for wrong items sent by a Amazon third party. Got an immediate return label, took both items to my local UPS store for drop off. My money was back in my bank account four days later with an apology and questionnaire from both suppliers.
