Thank you lindmike. Bull dog hood ornaments on Mack trucks are very sort after trophies particularly the gold ones which were fitted to the Maxidyne models which came out in 1966. I worked for a Mack truck agency in Darwin for a short while in 1969 and I could have made a fortune selling either the chrome or the gold plated ones if I could have got my hands on them.

Playing with grey scale.

Alice Springs is the home of the National Road Transport Hall of Fame which pays tribute to many pioneers of the Australian road transport industry. A large cross section of historical heavy vehicles are displayed, mostly undercover. The site also includes the Kenworth pavilion which houses a large number of Kenworth trucks made in Australia.

1 Mock-up workshop display depicting a local motor garage.

2 Citreon 2CV 1949-1960.

3 Diamond T. During the 1950's many local transport operators bought up redundant military vehicles, repowered them and used them to haul two or three trailers to transport supplies or cattle throughout the remote north of Australia.

4 1930's AEC road train. Purchased by the Australian Government and operated by The Department of the Interior this vehicle replaced camel teams carrying supplies to outback regions in the north of Australia.

5 1953 - 1966 B Series Mack prime mover (tractor unit). These trucks proved to be tough and reliable and were used in many rigid, semi-trailer and road train configerations hauling multiple trailers

6 1924 era Packard sedan.

7 The initials DB indicates that this wheel belongs to a Dodge (Dodge Brothers) vehicle 1920's-1930's era.

9 1954-1966 Beardmore London Taxi. Looks like a lot of filler has been used to fill dents (or rust) in the front mudguards.
