Nice work on all of these--great sports shots. These are the best sports shots I’ve seen lately. They are ad quality for products. Enjoyed, really enjoyed!

Thanks John!

My kids never played volleyball, they were runners. I have coached volleyball for 25 years and, as long as you have a 70-200 f2.8 and a reasonably well lit gym its really pretty easy to shoot once you fully understand it. Also, the higher the level of play the either it is to shoot.

The only thing that makes shooting in the gym that these shots were taken at ISO 8,000 at 1/1000 of a second at f2.8. Most gyms are at least two full stops brighter and often more than that.

Last weekends huge national qualifier was in a convention center, so maybe that's coloring my recollection, but my shots were similar to yours, but at ISO 16000-20000, and the lights had some differing color casts. You can see them in second set I posted in the thread I started yesterday.

My stepson and daughter are heavily involved in baseball and volleyball, with a few other sports on the side. Most of my sports pics are of these two sports, so I thought I'd post a few of my favorites

It's a difficult sport to shoot. My stepdaughter is on a high level 12 year old's club team so I shoot her games now and then. She also plays some sand (beach) volleyball which is much easier and more fun in my opinion.

I am glad you see what I was concerned about. Never have I ever read a waiver of rights this outrageous. I like submitting to UHH but this killed that.

Fotoartist, was this just something you happened to find or was there an issue which brought it to your attention?

Great image of a lovely young lady
I missed yesterdays post :
Both images are great I like the color because of the color, The monochrome because it reveals a little more of the model while adding a bit of mystery .

Exactly why I liked each, thanks :)

I agree with your sentiments entirely. Obviously individual tastes and levels of expertise (at producing an image) varies hugely and will always provoke comment and critique. Observations, such as body-shape of a model - are largely unnecessary - though it is up to the photographer to present that model in the most favourable light possible. Unfortunately this is often not the case. There are without doubt some really well produced images on here. And pleasingly there are some contributors whose work has improved measurably over the months. Unfortunately there are many that repetitively include irrelevant and superfluous junk in the background/foreground when a little forethought would obviously go a long way to remedy this.

I guess the challenge is to put something out there that we feel "genuinely" proud of or gain a sense of achievement from.

Interesting...I have been "proud" of every image I've posted here, or else I would have never posted them on this highly critical public forum. If I have an image I'm considering posting and I think "it's OK but not that great" I'd never post it. Surely everyone who posts on here feels the same???
I respect your opinions and critique Paul but "good" is so subjective any public forum will be similar, right?

No, this isn't a "one a day" series, don't worry :) Someone asked for another from this series, so here's another one I particularly like

I'm learning retouching and have been messing around with this pic, which admittedly needed very little work, but I really like it. Color or B/W??
