The proper response to this is not just top cast out the extra votes, but to audit the state to see if it cheated elsewhere, but covered its tracks better.

As to exit polls, they are nearly infallible, if conducted right, because they measure what happened, not what is projected to happen. When there are discrepancies between the exit polls and the official results, and especially if all the discrepancies favor the same candidate, without any doubt, cheating has taken place, and the process should be audited.
