Pittman Photo in Miami was ordered to close as it is nonessential retail. They will be closed until further notice. I know folks who work there, they believe they're essential.
I agree, the posting about the potential began on 22 Feb. Most of the stuff in the threads has to do with FF big gains amid that collapsing markets. 8.8% up. Now that you've shared this, it will rage through the readers and soon some reporter will have an original thought and write about it. You are a great Citizen. Thanks.
Greetings, If you have encountered caiman anywhere in Florida they were not in their native habitat. Caiman Crocodiles as they are called were marketed for years on the back pages of comic books next to x-ray glasses and whoopie cushions. Caiman are the Crocodilia that once roamed the sewers of New York City. Florida had kids too so... It takes a lot of space and a lot of chickens to keep a large reptile so folks released them to the most ideal place on earth, Florida, where no creepy invader has a preditor. The Caiman native range is from the northern edges of South America where the isthmus of Panama reaches up from the continent into the Bay of California and along the Caribbean and Gulf coasts to near Texas. The Black Caiman, the big ones over 12ft are in the Amazon basin. Caiman are smaller than gators. Caiman over 6 feet are uncommon. Their heads are a little broader and their scale sequencing is different. We have Florida Alligators and Florida Crocodiles. Caiman are interlopers. There was talk of allowing unfettered hunting of them. It might be good sport, I don't know what they taste like, if it's like gator then Okay. The hides are not as valuable as gator hides... but you could investigate harvesting them, there are a lot of established exotics in Florida that are being controlled by open season.
In the '80s Miami Gardens slipped into a desperate hysteria as it reported that gangs of dognappers were raiding waterfront homes and condos from John boats and selling pets to laboratories. Florida Fish and Game, (predecessor to Florida Wildlife Commission) investigated along with the rest of law enforcement and discovered on one of the tributaries of one of the C-canals that ran through the area a large community of caiman. Dogs and gators are mortal enemies. Dogs never win. There are countless stories of little dogs squirming out of their owner's arms and leaping at a gator from an airboat. ...never to be seen again. A dog won't discriminate between an alligator and a caiman.
Stay well; Wash Your Hands! Peace
Wow, vegan shoes -- Crocks? all I ever get are ads for pickup trucks and camera equipment.
The practice of emptying the paper goods shelves is based on symbolism. It's a statement. Hoarding toilet paper is a comment on the present state of instability that reaches back to the end of the last century. The go-to solution to low toilet paper stock in the home was the Sears catalog. The sheets could be taken out, crumpled over and over and made soft enough to use. No longer any Sears. No longer any large catalogs produced -- the yellow pages were once a serviceable source; but no more -- if you can find a phone book, it might get a small family through two weeks tops. The white pages were better but you knew you'd need them... unless you were to hoard last year's phone books. There is a status to having stacks of rolls as well. When you can't go out, toilet paper is a comfort.
As you know there are catalogs, but the paper is of such superior, high gloss, origami quality --- not to use in place of toilet paper.
Hurricane season has reiterated this to me since I was 6... mid 20th century. WASH YOUR HANDS!
the vegans got crazy in Publics today too
Congratulations! Sharing the day with us is grand. The place is wonderful, and the fact that you're back at it in raw country is exceptionally wonderful.
I don't know Maimi well -- I grew up there but I only get back for family events... this park looks to be a really old rock pit. Construction has been booming in South Florida since the mid-60s. A lot of rock pits were blasted and dug for that excellent white sand to make cement and concrete block. Many of them became the centerpieces of housing developments and are still being repurposed that way. It's just beautiful. You have great respect for the sweetness of South Florida. The light there is unique. It's like a whiter blue without being less saturated in color tone. This is very obvious when a film or TV production is shot in California to represent South Florida. The light always betrays the effort. Thanks, your fun afternoon ROCKED!
Thanks for these... what a trip! The pics are great -- the content is stunning. Nothing but risk -- gravity lurking throughout the entire process. The trust between the lineman and the pilot has to be incredible.
Killer! Did you get any body art? That shot provokes ya to want to go inside and hang for a while. Very cool.
Thanks! I love ships and you got some great ships!
Thanks, the church just blew me away. It's like every stroke that artist dragged and every drop of spray is a prayer. Not unlike DeVinci. I was able to speak to a guy who is a parishioner and he gave me the history of the building. As he put it, before he found the Light he was in the building a lot, but that was when it was one of the most notorious roadhouses in West Central Florida. The irony of his still coming to the place is not lost on him... and pretty much the whole congregation.
I have so much respect for the Coasties who came before me... I got in near the end of Vietnam and there were still a lot of very salty, swaggering, WWII heroes to live up to all over the place. If you excuse what I'm about to say -- The Coast Guard is so badass that the Coast Guard doesn't have to tell everybody -- they're too busy being badass to care what others think... It's no different today, and your dad was in the chain of Coasties who set the bar -- If your Dad is still with us, please send him my salute and Semper Paratus!
Blessings.

Nice shots, is that the new Publix that just opened in S Tampa?
Thanks, Nimbushopper,
This Publix is in Hyde Park and it's been there for years. It's a Greewise. There are a few in the region, Lakeland, Sarasota and one that was announced last year for DownTownTampa. It's Publix answer to Whole Foods -- but it's Publix treatment. It exceeds all else.
Peace!
Remember to WASH YOUR HANDS!!! ...even if they ain't sticky.
