I do have a Nest Gimbal and it serves what I have to do with it (wild life). Although it came out on the bottom of the list (NPHOTO mag, pg 108) it is a good value for the money. Benro GH2 ($350) and the Wimberly WH-200, version II ($550), were tops. I would not hesitate in buying anything from Cottage Camera

thanks, I'm trying to follow them but having a problem - when I try to update after inserting the formatted SD card in the computer with the *.bin file, it doesn't do anything when I press the "OK" button. I have a call in to Nikon tech support, but they're closed on weekends :-(

Is your SD card the primary card in your settings?
If not, you could also put the "bin" file on your XQD card also.

The primary use for a lens hood is to prevent light from hitting the front lens element from the sides - reducing contrast and creating flare. Pictures taken with a lens hood installed can have richer colors and deeper saturation. A secondary use for a lens hood is to protect the lens.

Who cares?
The first camera you bought; why did you buy it? Because someone else told you it was better? As long as the camera meets YOUR requirements, feels good in your hands and meets your "price" requirements and you did your own research.....who cares?
I know Canon users who switched to Nikon/Sony/Pentax and others.
I know Nikon uses who switched to Canon/Sony/Pentax and others.
Who cares?
As long as that person is happy and the camera does what they want it to do, who cares?

Could it be that Canon offered to the news agencies a better price then Nikon?

You have to look at the file extensions. I believe that ON1 automatically converts to JPG.

Good morning,
Heading to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Any suggestions about what to look for, best time for shooting or lens preference?

Sunrise/sunset are always a good time.
Grand Canyon, a wide angle lens will be good, but don't put down a good zoom. Watch out for the squirrels, they will take food right out of your hand when your not ready for it.
Sedona, again a wide angle lens and a zoom. Might consider taking the "pink jeep" tour, but hang on........
