18-300mm will cover most of your ops and 35mm when you want a better quality shot.

My 10 year old granddaughter Ava and I entered a photo contest at our local library at the beginning of August. It ran for the whole month and I just received notification that she won.Three photos from each contestant. It was the first time either of us has ever entered a photo competition. They had different age groups and Ava won in hers!! Here's her winning entry.

Obviously she is into macro and that photo takes a lot of creativity. Great job Ava.

Sorry, spur of the moment. I would not think that of you, especially not knowing you! Sometimes, thinking through these things can be confusing.

That's OK - no problem.

It doesn't recognize the lens but you can use it. You simply set the aperture, the shutter speed, focus then press the shutter release button. That's all.
If you want the lens to auto focus, the camera to automatically set exposure then there is no adapter that can do that with that lens and that body.
(you could gain some automation by using that lens with a mirrorless body)

Thank you.
It works.

I use my Nikon 55mm f2.8 AIS Micro lens on my D5100 with no trouble at all. Once I focus and set the aperture, I just shoot a shutter speed, then check to see if I was over or under exposed, in less than 30 seconds, I get perfect exposures. If I am using it in macro, I set to closest focus and move closer or farther until the subject is in perfect focus, then shoot.

The problem I have is that the camera don't recognize the lens.

You don't need any adapter. No adapter can make the lens AF (it's a manual focus lens any way). You will have no meter but when I use the macro lens I seldom use the meter.

Thank you,
The problem is that my Nikon D5500 does not recognize the lens.

Why would you need an adapter to mount this F-mount Nikon lens to an F-mount Nikon DSLR?

The problem is the lens will not retain autofocus on the D5500, that can't autofocus this type of older lens. Moreover, Rockwell's compatibility chart indicates you'll have to figure the metering on your manual (human control) too: https://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility-lens.htm#dslr (i.e., it won't be very efficient, probably not fun to use either.)

Exactly, that's what happen, thank you.
I guess I was looking for something that does not make sense.
