Cougars are critters to be respected. One took down an 1100 lb cow in my neighborhood.

Thank you all. The dog got several treats and seemed happy to be a model.

Curious about how you shot at ImagingUSA 2018 and copyrighted in 2017? Beautiful pup anyway.

You caught me! I used last year’s stamp when exporting from Lightroom. No one told me it was 2018. I’m just getting use to writing 2017 when I’m dating things. ;-)

Ditto what jcboy3 said. I strongly recommend either Eneloop or Powerex Imedion low self discharge batteries and a Maha battery charger. Charging at about 1/3 of the batteries capacity per hour is preferred for long battery life. A charger that excessively heats the battery is not good for long battery life even though it may be fast. Thomas Distributing is a good source and is a company that specializes in batteries and accessories so they can also give good advice.

As jcboy3, I use mine professionally to power 3 to 4 speed lights for location shoots where they are sometimes competing with the sun. Mine last for many years.

A photo from ImagingUSA 2018. I didn't see his pass, but he somehow slipped in. ;-)

Looks like Adorama has Lexar XQD cards on backorder as are Sony 128GB G series.

It sounds like Lexar XQD cards are on the way back and there may well be some already manufactured and in this Country that just need re-packaging. Even more interesting that the memory card manufacturers are said to have an understanding about moving towards a common standard that will be backwards compatible with XQD with a simple software update.

If you opt for a dry bag, look at the Watershed Ocoee dry duffel. That are heavy duty and you need to keep the seal clean, but they work well. As one experienced Paddler said in a seminar on how to pack a canoe for a multi day trip, “Remember, inside every dry bag is a wet bag trying to get out.” NRS.com are Raft, Canoe, and Kayak specialists and have a wide range of products.

I spent 14 days on Colorado Rivers in an open canoe last summer and did most of my shooting with the 28-300 on a Nikon D500 but occasionally used a 200-500mm. I also used a TG4 for times when I wasn’t willing to take the D500 out of it’s Pelican case. I agree with the statement that you should start with a talk with the rafting company to see what is allowed and what works in their experience.

OK as long as he doesn’t think photographers taste good. Nice shoots!

Interesting shots with great composition. Timing and framing looks like it would be tough and require anticipation and quick reflexes. As close as we come in Colorado is a few ‘crazy’ people who ‘surf’ in river rapids on SUP boards.

Great shot! Bobcats can be allusive critters.
