When you want to get the "best" from a particular lens and know that it has a specific aperture for that lens which produces the best result for your needs. Also when a desired Depth of Field is a priority. Thanks.

Hi Hogs,

I am about to begin the second revision of my landscape photography book by Focal Press.? Exposure and metering are important skills to master. Over 40 years of photographing close-ups, wildlife. and countless landscapes for fun and to earn a living, I have never found a situation where aperture-priority works better than the other choices I prefer that include shutter-priority, manual, shutter-priority and Auto ISO, or just manually setting a known exposure for stuff too small to meter like stars. Can any one think of a situation where aperture-priority really works best in case it should be in the updated book. I never have found a reason to use aperture-priority, but that doesn't mean there aren't any! Thanks for considering this question.

I think it's a very fine photograph of a handsome dog. The only thing I might have done is adding some shadow detail for the darker fur in PS.(minor adjustment) I tried a little sharpening but it really didn't need it.

Interesting that you're talking about being bothered by new technologies and the people who use them. I would have rather seen your photos of SE Asia.

I use the Spyder....photograph a McBeth color checker...make the print and make some tweaks. My prints match my screen.

I have a fairly new I Mac computer and am using photoshop CC 2017 and a Epson 960 printer. I was wondering if there are any changes I should make to the display to get more accurate prints? I do calibrate the display with a color munki smile. The image on the computer seems a bit bright compared to my prints, color seems to be okay. I know there a various ways to make changes to the display, just using the defaults right now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am teaching myself retouching as a hobby and would like the screen to match the prints as much as possible, thank you, Rich M.
