I thought there was something going on with the sky the other day.

Shot from a little to your right and a few minutes later, judging from the movement of the floating boom and clouds. Exposure's a little different, too.

Judge- I think one should also note that the initial download should be to one auxiliary drive (not your C or primary OS & software drive) and your Lightroom drive should be another dedicated auxiliary drive (could be internal or external) that can be either swapped for another or copied off to another incrementally as it fills. It will fill. You don't want your C drive filling rapidly and bogging your system down at the most inconvenient time (whenever else?). I use an SSD for the download/sorting drive as it's fast and has no moving parts, and conventional hard drives for storage and archiving.

They look like ground cherries, which are delicious - all the restaurants around here were using them for garnish for awhile a few years ago. See if you can find more definitive information to identify them, and watch for the fruit to turn orange and the husk to start to open.

Thanks Doc. Have a great trip! Happy hunting - I look forward to seeing what you find. My wife loves traveling in the SW, so any intel would be appreciated.

docshark ID'd the last one I posted. This one's prettier. I had no luck with an ID on BugGuide.net so far, but there are a Lot of dragonflies.

Have you tried backlighting instead? I saw somewhere recently photos of hummingbirds backlit by the sun that were pretty spectacular.

The download of your photo is really spectacular!

I use the PD clip on my backpack shoulder strap, where the camera hangs out of the sweat dripping off my chin when hiking hard and/or hot. Saves on hotshoe repairs!

If you like birds, a visit to the Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary out West of Ladner (on the South bank at the mouth of the Fraser R.) is well worthwhile. Check online to see if it's really slow for birds when you're going, but there are some residents (Sandhill cranes, for one) that are pretty inured to people and cameras.

I was busy wandering the garden and shooting whatever was in bloom the other day. While re-framing the Osage Orange (Syringa) I lifted my eye from the viewfinder and noticed this dragonfly about two feet away and took advantage of the situation. I was fortunate to have plenty of light to shoot hand-held at f/22 and get a pretty sharp shot off before he lost patience and took off.

Looking at the back of the thorax, at the wing actuation machinery (for want of a more descriptive term) I am pretty sure these are really robots from some other place far away, tasked with keeping the mosquitoes from driving us more insane, in hopes that we'll grow up enough to be useful slaves someday.

That's correct, however it all depends om your style of photography, and where you are walking around.
My "walk around" lens for my 4/3 system is the Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO.

Well put. Sometimes I walk around with the 12-40 and sometimes with the 40-150 f/2.8 Pro, and sometimes with the 75-300 f/5.6-6.7. Sometimes the 60mm f/2.8 macro is fine for walking around in the garden. Most often, I grab my pack where they all live and walk around ready for whatever.
