I did not know about the NASA Website, will have to go there over the weekend, thank you for sharing. I have started my practices with the new solar filters and the results have been less than hoped for but I have another month and a half so all help is appreciated.

I have used the Rode Videomic Pros on my videos for a number of years with no problems and reliable performance (provided you turn them on as an earlier poster said). After using the internal mic on my D7100 for a performance (I thought "how bad could it be?") I bought one dedicated for the DSLR. As another poster said above, not a true shotgun but great performer that catches all of the sound. I record high school marching bands so shotgun is not as important to me as overall performance, blocking wind noise and pick up the field rather than the crowd.

I have sold a few things through B&H. Fair price easy to deal with and quick cash. I have also bought used through them. Not a problem so far

A suggestion. If you do go with the 200-500 and a shorter lens is have just one case to carry that both cameras fit into. I use the ape case large enough for the 200-500 with camera attached and holds the other camera comfortably. The picture posted as my Avatar is a tiger through a window with the 200-500 lens he was about 20 feet away.

I like my Nikon 200 - 500 f5.6 For outside shots. Inside I use a 24 - 120.

I used to have one, really only used it a couple of times. Other lenses owned - specifically 18-34 mm Nikon lens and a 24 - 120 lens - were more versatile and fit my photography. But it was a good little lens. I think I got like $110 selling it.

Great shots. I was looking at a Zillow ad for a neighbor's house and they really could have used this knowledge. Do not know who took their pictures but the main rooms (living room and master bedroom) we shot in the afternoon with west exposure windows. Turned out terrible.

I went from a D40 to a D7100. Happy enough with the choice to buy a second one so I do not need to spend time changing lens if an opportunity pops up.

We are headed there in Mid June, thank you for the great suggestions. We are staying at the Big Meadows Lodge. My daughter researched it and it seems reasonably priced and clean. Has some good recommendations also.

I shot this about a week ago. In the camera it did not look very good. I like the look once it is on a larger screen.

Toured Monticello over the weekend and the guide challenged us to take a picture of the house with a reflection from the fish pond. I thought this turned out well and wanted to share. My daughter also took the same shot with her iPhone and it actually turned out better because the wind paused for a few seconds. But I showed her the perfect point to capture from so I take partial credit for her shot.

I took a photography class once and the teacher recommended duct tape. Would possibly gum up the lens but he assured us that it would work.
