My friend, if you look around you will see women working out just as men do these days. I don't see how you can not see that while push ups and sit ups are not in the normal scheme of police or fire requirements, they are a metric, a standard of testing for strength and endurance. Many times I have thought maybe I could only do 10 push ups but with a friend encouraging me I could do more. It is a test of how much heart you have, an unmeasurable trait but one of the most important assets to both police and firemen. Heart is that quality that allows someone to carry an injured person just 5 more feet to safety rather than both die. It lets a police woman take a bullet right in the middle of the heart and yet kill her assailant after running him down. If you don't know what it is then you have never been in any situation where it is required.

You do not seem to understand that 70% of the women did pass the agility test. Should tests be administered so that everyone passes? Should there be no test at all? If both men and women have a high percentage of failing the test then I agree the test should be looked at to see if it is a proper test. But with a high percentage of women passing and some men failing doesn't that seem fair to you. If you don't like push ups and sit ups, what do you like? How about a mile run. Firemen have to run carrying a hose and policement sure have to go in foot pursuits, some short and some long. Is that OK with you?

Nobody seems to have touched upon the part of Eric Holder wanting to pay women who have failed the test. WTF??? Will this be across the board throughout America now? Somebody applies for a secretarial job and their shorthand is not up to par so the potential employer will be made to pay the applicant just for showing up? Obama and his rabble rouser/community organizer thought process is getting a bit out of hand isn't it? I prefer the old fashioned common sense practice myself. I think most would agree.

A copy of this letter was emailed to me and on first reading, I didn’t give it its due. Certainly, no one can find fault with any of the platitudes that Pastor Weaver; but when we take time to consider, just how does it relate to the incident at Ferguson? If I grant the benefit of my doubt, I would say the message is “rioting is not the solution”. And that too is faultless. Yet, I am filled with doubt due to some of his odd concepts. First and foremost, it is natural to get angry and frustrated by injustice. Human nature has a keen desire for justice. Our emotions are not the problem. It is what we do with them. And yes, that may be what Pastor Weaver is trying to say; but he goes on to denounce a major conservative concept to which even Star Parker subscribes: the government and media have too much control over our lives.

In the end, I am left with the vague feeling that Pastor Weaver is saying the kid got what was coming to him and brutal police treatment is the fault of the victims.
