I would prefer my Nikkor 18-135.

But his question was related to what he has, not what you would prefer........

I agree. Not worth the expense or hassle. My camera shop sold me an aftermarket that swelled. Claimed that they are “just as good.” Never had an OEM that did that.

It depends on the quality of manufacture.
Obviously some manufacturers are better quality.
All batteries have the propensity to swell at some point.
I've had two third party batteries (out of six) start to swell after about 6-8 years.
For the price, I can live with that. I simply monitor them.
We all have our individual expectations and tolerance levels, don't we.

Laptop batteries are more likely to swell than camera batteries because you charge them in the laptop.

We had two laptops for about 10 years before we upgraded to new ones. Always plugged in, never swelled.

One would think that the designers would design the charging system to limit the charging rate and not over charge, and they know it's being charged in the device.(Except maybe for the dollar-two-ninety-eight third party chargers.....)
Oh, wait, they probably did.

Maybe bad/questionable battery(s) with a propensity to swell to begin with?

If I had to make the decision, I'd take the 18-150.
(I have an 18-200 that lives on my camera.)

I also see people saying they leave their batteries in their cameras. ( BAd IDEA)

Your opinion!.... definitely your opinion.
I've kept batteries in my cameras for over 20 years.
I check them once a month (sometimes two months),
I never had a problem.....

You'll also see people saying never store your camera equipment in a closet.
Store it in a climate controlled cabinet.
Same there, their opinion......

Failures need to be reported as X failures per Y units.
That provides a Failure Rate.
Someone saying I had 3 Brand X batteries fail in two years is TOTALLY worthless.
How many (total) were sold?
Under what conditions were they used? stored?

Unfortunately some people will say "Oh, that's bad, I won't buy any Brand X batteries.".
Who knows, maybe 500 other people never had a problem!

That seems on-topic.
Theres two topics:
• Crowded clutter.
• Distant travel.

Seems photography too, but, your logic is faulty.
It also supersedes "Don't post pictures on other people's threads unless asked to do so.".

Not on the same (someone else's) thread....
Bad form.
On your own thread(s), have at it.
