Tom Corbett and the Space Patrol on Saturday morning radio, sponsored by Wheat Chex and Rice Chex cereal. Send in a box top and a couple of dollars and get a clear plastic “space hemet” with blow up plastic “air tanks”

Ah, Tom Corbett on TV was my favorite and I had to be content with that until Star Trek made its appearance.

That was REALLY cute. Amazing what can be done with computers today without being Walt Disney.

Never forget!

Forgetting is what gets the U.S. in trouble. The adage "Ignore history at your own peril.", certainly applies. We got in the same mess in Afghanistan, because someone forget just how nasty a prolonged war can be.

Watching the news everyday since we invaded Afghanistan, certainly looked like a replay of Viet Nam. Same mistakes, same old tired strategy of "nation building".

Generals win wars and politicians lose wars. We haven't won a war/conflict since WWII because Congress thinks they can run wars from their chairs in DC.

Fantastic pictures. I find it incredible that cameras are out there today that can take pictures from earth that formerly were only possible through high power telescopes or Hubble. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful shots.

None of us will ever forget where we were or what we were doing on that horrific morning, no more than we will forget what we were doing and where on the day of JFK's assassination. Two incidents that changed our lives and our world and not for the better.

That’s right! Do not pay any attention to the Mandates, be they Federal, State, Local, or School level. Just put them out of your mind.

You are right to think that your battle with Covid-19 is personal. Just like it was personal when you were a kid and you got that smallpox vaccine (I bet most of you still have that faint scar on your shoulder where they kept sticking you with that needle). And, it was personal when they gave you that sugar cube with the polio vaccine.

Think for a moment, where would the world be today without those two vaccines. How many millions would have died, would still be dying?

Now, do the math. Count the vast number of those who have not taken the vaccine shots who are now on respirators in ICUs across the nation. To them, Covid-19 is real personal. It is real personal for the hundreds of thousands in our country who have already lost loved ones to this pandemic.

If not for yourself, make it personal to get the vaccine for your family, your friends, your community.

For reasons I cannot understand, my grandson did not take the time to get the vaccine, and now he, his fiancée and their two year old daughter have all tested positive for Covid-19. He really regrets not getting the vaccine now. For me, that is real personal!

Rational people do not need mandates to do the right thing, they step up and make it personal.

So, FORGET THE MANDATES, make it personal. ❤️
That’s right! Do not pay any attention to the Man... (show quote)

It was MANDATORY that we got all our shots before starting kindergarten, consequently, there were no problems with pandemics and when the polio vaccine became available, we were given them at school. No one EVER raised a big fuss about our right to refuse a vaccine. The result was that most of the things we were vaccinated for eventually became nearly extinct. I don't recall anyone having a fatal reaction to any of the vaccines we were given back in the late '40s and into the '50s.

That's because it costs cash to kiln dry lumber and mill it to standard dimensions. People have been building stuff with green, rough cut lumber for 1000's of years. Most builders find it is much better to pay for kiln dried lumber milled to standard sizes. Moreover, green lumber rough cut to 2x4 won't stay there for long. The size will immediately change to almost random dimensions after cutting, not to mention serious twisting, cracking and checking over time. Jerry thinks 1/32" is a problem. He'd love using green, rough cut lumber I bet...

We haven't had any problem with twisting and the only problem we had with checking was on the 8"X8" supports we used. We were careful to flip boards into new piles if we weren't going to use them right away so that they would dry uniformly without warping. Those buildings have been up since 1996 and are just as tight as when newly constructed.

Yeah, but do you remember those rolls of caps. We would take a whole roll put them on the cement road or driveway and hit it with a hammer . Couldn't hear for a few minutes after , but good times. Lol

Just curious, but do they even let children play with cap guns anymore? One of my most treasured Christmas presents was a Hopalong Cassidy, 2 gun/holster set, with a vest, hat and cowboy boots. We a lot of fun and good exercise running around playing Hopalong, Roy Rogers or Gene Autry. I guess what amused us isn't sophisticated enough for kids today.

If you buy "rough cut" lumber a 2x4 is actually 2"X4". And, it is a lot cheaper. We built a 28'X48' combination garage/barn, a 28'X28' garage, and a 20'x20' shop with rough cut hemlock and it cost us less than half the price of milled lumber.
