I love your work! Making the (almost) invisible, visible! A noble pastime, I think!

In the case of the Sun, making the bright dimmer :)

After missing the largest sunspot region todate due to cloudy weather I fired up the QHY 462C and Lunt 60 this afternoon and short a few video sessions. I only processed two and created a composite, attached.

Lots of prominences in the area where Active Area 3615 disappeared over the edge of ol' sol.

Enjoy!

Along the Great Ocean Road you come upon some places that you appreciate for their natural beauty. This was one of them for me. The erosive power of the ocean is visible on a grand scale here and on down the coastline.

Just imagine how much this has changed over the past few million years...

I am going to try to take a solor eclipse picture April 8th. Since I have never tried to take a picture of the sun I needed to pratice. Got a pretty good photo using the topics already that have been posted. The problem I am having will seem so dumb but I hope someone will be able to help this old man. I am having a diffucult time finding the sun in the view finder. With the dark sun filter until the sun is actually visible it of course is black. I can find it but it takes me a long time very slowly moving the camer back and forth and up and down to locate it. I am hoping someone has a good starting point that will help me find it faster. I guess my 80 year old eyes are just really poor. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Move to the front of your setup and move the camera/lens until the shadow from the setup is nicely centered. Works wonderfully!

I saw a strange vehicle on the road yesterday, and I quickly realized that it was a Tesla Cybertruck. I don't know how "Cyber" applies, but it certainly is weird looking. You can buy one to haul your next load of building materials home from Lowes for $165+.

The most useful accessory for a Cybertruck is a portable gasoline generator! Lots of room in the box...

Your take on this makes sense to me, except that I now use Topaz Photo AI which does items 1-3 needed in their proper order.
Then I use Topaz Studio 1 & 2 to prettify the lily if needed.
Finally, I use PhotoScape X to make collages, Edit, Cut-Out, Batch* (processing), Create GIF, Print, and (Many other tools.

I also use Photo AI for minor changes, although the full versions of DeNoise and Sharpen offer more options and still do a better job.

The NIH does not agree. See https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK10848/

Neither does the American Academy of Ophthalmology. https://www.aao.org/eye-health/anatomy/cones

We see colors via the cones. Those two sources don't agree either (4.5 million or 6 million cones). Either way, the human eye is just a D70. It's a good thing most of us have two.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet unless you know you can trust the source.

Not total nonsense, per:
According to scientist and photographer Dr. Roger Clark, the resolution of the human eye is 576 megapixels. That’s massive when you compare it to the 12 megapixels of an iPhone 12’s camera123.

However, let’s delve deeper into this fascinating comparison. The 576-megapixel resolution implies that to create a screen with a picture so sharp and clear that you can’t distinguish individual pixels, you would need to pack 576 million pixels into an area the size of your field of view. But here’s the catch: in a single snapshot-length glance, the resolution drops to a fraction of that—around 5–15 megapixels. Why? Because our eyes have some quirks that wouldn’t be acceptable in a camera:

Fovea: The high resolution is concentrated in a tiny area called the fovea, right at the center of our vision. Beyond that, the resolution decreases significantly.
Blind Spot: We have a blind spot where the optic nerve meets the retina.
Eye Movements: Our eyes constantly move around a scene to gather more information and correct for imperfections.
So, while the megapixel count is intriguing, the human eye isn’t just a camera lens—it’s more like a detective, collecting clues and piecing them together in our brain to form a complete picture. When it comes to our daily visual experience, talking in megapixels is a bit too simplistic.

The human eye, a remarkable biological marvel, captures the world in intricate detail, far beyond what any camera sensor can achieve. Its resolution, though not directly comparable to a camera’s megapixels, remains awe-inspiring. Next time you gaze at a breathtaking landscape or a loved one’s face, remember that your eyes are more than just pixels—they’re the gateway to your perception of the world.

I respect Roger Clark's opinion.

If it sounds like a provocative question, it was intentional.

A discussion took place recently on another thread that got me thinking about it. So I did some comparison's using a 24MP A7 III and a 45.7MP Z7 using each camera's 85mm f/1.8 lens (at f/2.8). Those lens resolutions are very close according to DXOMARK.

I viewed the results on a 2k (1920x1080, about 2MP) and 4k (3840x2160, about 8MP) monitor and couldn't tell them apart.

I printed the original full-size images on 8.5x11 Red River UltraPro Satin paper at their best settings. I still could not tell them apart.

Then I exported each image at a width of 1920 and 3840 pixels as well as at their full resolution. They will be attached to the next post.

The only time I could tell them apart was at the full resolution pixel peeped at 100%. But the only way anyone can see that is on a monitor where the magnified image is way too big to fit the screen.

There is a message here and some of you aren't going to be happy with it.

Seems like we need better cameras that wouldn't require all that work.

We're getting there. Just take a look at camera evolution since electronic sensors were first introduced.

But the more cameras evolve the further people try pushing them! At one point I would never have even considered shooting at ISO12800++ (assuming the camera would even give me that option), now I shoot at ISO12800++ as required with reasonable results. And I can still remember pushing ASA 400 film to the max extent to pull out something I'd shot in almost the dark.

Yes, I follow their recommendation(s), per:

Topaz Workflow:
1: JPEG to RAW AI (not necessary if you shoot in RAW)
2: DeNoise AI
3: Sharpen AI
4: Mask AI
5: Adjust AI
6: Topaz Studio 2
7: Gigapixel AI

However, in my case 4: thru 6: are done in Lightroom/Photoshop.

Now why, oh why, would Blue Footed Boobys evolve blue feet!?

Resolution is EVERYTHING when you're cropping small features. It is amazing the difference between a Sony A7R V (61MP) and A7 III (24MP) in this regard; the reason I use the A7R V for astrophotography.

I constantly struggle to come up with what to shoot. Does it come randomly to you? Or do you plan and brainstorm and imagine the final picture first and then arrange to make it happen?

Do you shoot what you happened to see? Or do you create your shots?

In answer to the title, "Everywhere!".
