The lens is one of the catches. I'm going to have to locate one on my own since I may not get the lens. Re the film, I do my own B&W developing and printing, so cost there really isn't an issue. I used to do slides with mailers - never got into color print processing, and never wanted to. Have a happy holiday, Nancy B.

I've done the advanced photo courses at the Community College. I like them because they are structured and you're more apt to stay with them because of the peer pressure. If you're doing it under the senior waiver, that's the best deal going. Whichever you decide, good luck with it. Best wishes, Nancy B.

Anyone have experience with this camera? A friend of mine wants to part with his but I'm not sure just what I would be getting into with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ah-hah! Thanks for info that it really isn't a ring light.

Hadn't planned on using with my digital - wanted it for my Canon F1 film SLR, but thanks for warning.

Yeah, I think you're right. It was just about that time I was really getting into photography, and I really wanted one of them. The power supply wasn't included. The seller was settling a family member's estate who had bought a lot of expensive camera equipment, including a Hasselblad, but never got around to using any of it. I didn't do well on the ring light, but I did get the speed finder for my F1 for $50, including case, so it wasn't a complete loss. I checked out the articles you folks were kind enough to forward and will read over them more thoroughly after the holidays. It mentioned one of Canon's flashes which I may have somewhere in a closet, so maybe there is still hope.

I just purchased a Canon Flash Auto Ring B2 from eBay which is just the ring unit itself to go around the lens. No instructions are included either. I've wanted one of these for years, although now that I've got at least part of one, I'm not sure why. Any ring light owners out there that can give me some advice and guidance? Thanks, Nancy B.

I've been using the latest edition of Corel's Paintshop Pro and like it pretty much. I tried Lightroom 1 and 2 and didn't care for them. Haven't updated from them. I like Photoshop but find the cost of the software prohibitive.

Actually, I've been wondering the same thing. I have quite a few from my film photography days. I may resurrect them to see what I can use.

Acadia is one of my favorite spots - never gotten there in the winter, but the photo ops should be fantastic. I know there are a couple of good, local favorite restaurants open in the winter in downtown Bar Harbor.

I had a great time a few years back traveling along Route 1. I'd do it again, but traffic is a nightmare during the tourist season. One of my objectives was to photograph the lighthouses along the coast. I think there are at least two in the general area of Freeport - Owls Head Museum and lighthouse for one. The museum is spectacular - all vehicles work. Of course, your wife is going to want to go to L.L. Bean - not sure of the photo opportunities there, unless you like taking pictures of harried shoppers.

Just purchased and downloaded Hamrick Software for Windows 7 Prof on my desktop for my Nikon CoolScan V ed, and it's working great! Thanks so much. I've got a couple of other older scanners, one of which is a document feed with OCR which I've wanted to use but my newer operating system would not accept. Has anyone had experience with the OCR? I know this can really be tricky. Thanks again, Nancy B.

I've sold a number of camera items on eBay and I used to send them UPS since the first $50 is insured. Now USPS offers this also. On a really large purchase or sale, I would buy extra insurance just to be on the safe side. I package everything very carefully, making sure there is no shifting nor anything rubbing against something else. I wrap the camera or lens in bubble wrap, then packing material around (plastic bags work well and most of us end up with a surplus anyway). I write "FRAGILE" wherever I can find room. I try to use priority mail since it's faster service. I also make sure that the box is securely taped with heavy-duty shipping tape. Hope this helps.
