Hi Patty, I wish I could be more help in answering your question. It has been a long time since I had that camera and honest I don't recall, but case 3 rings a bell. There is lots of information on the internet about 5DIV AF settings for action photography. I would suggest going to YouTube and search for Canon 5dIV autofocus setting for action photography. I'm sure there is a bunch of information about settings. What I always was confused about were the case settings, but if you figure that out, it will be quite helpful. Good luck. As I said, this camera is really good for the right applications. Just not sure fast moving birds is one of them, but it can be done. And Canon's 600 f/4 is a gem and works great with a 1.4x converter. Good luck and have fun.

I had that combo and never really had much luck with flight photography with it. My keeper rate was much less than 25%. At that length and that body, simply put, it's going to be tough, but it can be done. Shooting without the converter and at high shutter speeds will probably provide better results, but you will have to crop. The good news is that the 5DIV with the 600 and converter will provide excellent results for perching (stationary) subjects. I really enjoyed that combination for the right applications. Sorry, but the fact is, the 5DIV is a bit antiquated from a focusing perspective compared to the newer mirrorless bodies.
