Plant is in full bloom - thought I'd try an extension tube closeup of a single blossum. Nikon D600 w/ 70-200 f2.8 lens.

Oops: 80-200 f2.8 lens

I've had a number of 16 X 20 glossy metal (aluminum) prints made from DSLR images similar to the ones that you show. I've very happy with them - seems like you can almost walk into them. The colors of the southwest really pop out in metal prints. I've only had two problems: improper packaging resulting in dented corners in a number of shipments and the need to add more walls to my home in order to display more! Hope you enjoy your metal prints as much.

I updated to free 10 from 7 on a laptop yesterday with no problems. It took several hours. I have not used it enough yet to comment on the program itself.

Thanks to all for the help. The sharply defined wing shadow was what I wanted to remove. I wound up using the PSE Dodge/Burn tool to desaturate that shadow.

A visit to the town of Talkeetna is a must as is a telephoto lens and a flight over DNP with a landing (ski plane) on Ruth glacier. A wonderful experience.

For what it's worth, CS2 will open raw files from the Nikon D200, but not the D600.

These birds are very skittish - the slightest movement spokes them and they fly off. This guy was on guard duty on my front porch today and I was able to get off a few shots with the camera at hand through the blinds. Heavily cropped - Canon 5D.

Taken Feb 24th. I recommend the Navajo Guided tours - you get to see so much more.

Taken last month the day after a major snow storm. The road had been closed the previous day. Numerous vehicles stuck in the snow and mud on the trail. Absolutely spectacular in snow.

I agree. The world is on the metric system and there is no reason that we are not. I recall working on my GM auto in the 80's. Rather than go metric, which was championed at the time, they choose to just remark their SzAE bolts as converted i.e. a 9/16 " bolt was stamped 14.2 mm. There is no 14.2 mm metric bolt.

I also have the 4th version of this lens, and think it is a winner . Bought it used. Built like a tank. I find that the photos I get with it are tack sharp. As Rockwell notes however, this lens is big, bulky and quite heavy - not practical for a walk around lens. BTW: the hood for this lens is nearly as big as the lens itself!

If our government doesn't get off the dime and complete a nuclear waste repository i.e. Yucca Mountain, as the law requires, we may eventually have spent fuel storage issues. As I understand it, despite Obama and Reid efforts to stop the project, the rule of law has prevailed and the NRC has approved the repository license application AND above ground dry storage (favored by them) has been ruled to be illegal. The path forward is clear.

I don't see anything approaching an ecological disaster at present.
