Photoman64, I think you are correct in your comments. I think many do not realize what they are saying when they start that. Sometimes, or should I say always, it is better to think before commenting. There are some deals out there at times but you have to find them.

JakeBrake, Thanks for that. I was not going to say anything but as long as you started. I asked a simple question. I am a big enough person to know, what is a rip off but, I wanted to ask just in case that it was on the level. Then even after I said I understand people would post thing like I was some kind of moron and say things. This is not the second time that I have posted something and have gotten a bad taste about people on here. Always quick to put down other people for what ever reason. I thought that this site was to help others not ridicule others. Now I am not trying to stat another bs thread. All I am saying is try and give others a break and just answer a question without all the BS and put downs.

I tried ordering from them and found them to be a bait & switch outfit. I recorded the conversation so that there would be no question as to what took place. My advice is to leave them alone. If you do not want to buy a lot of other things that you don't need they will tell you that it is out of stock or some other thing to try getting out of the price advertised.

I am thinking of getting a Nikon 810, I have a D7100. I saw this place on line, Overstockdigital.com. Price for just the body is $2459.00 also says 1 year USA warranty. I know that they say if it sounds too good it is not, Any one hear or have used this place?

Thanks in advance.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

That is the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II, which came out in 2006. The IS version was introduced in 2007. Your XTi was introduced about 2006 and probably would have had the non-IS lens. I was referring to the T1i, which was introduced in 2009. You say it is on your T1i, but the photo you show is of a XTi. One of us is confused! :-D

Here is the lens that came on my T1i.

I have a t1i that I purchased new with the 18-55 lens. It is not IS. I just checked it to make sure. I don't remember how long ago I bought it but have used it very little. One thing to keep in mind is that it uses only Compact Flash and it is a lot more expensive than SD.

As best I remember the lens with the T1i was not IS. The first was the 18-55 then the 18-55 IS and last the 18-55 IS STM. The 50-250 IS was first then the 50-250 IS II and now the 50-250 IS STM. The original of each lens can be found very cheap and each model goes up in price. Do a search and you can find the discount prices on each. Still the price sounds like a good deal but probably the 18-50 is not IS. Don't quote me on that.

I found a Canon T1i for sale. The comes with the 18-55 mm lens (came with the camera), $400 dollar after market 55-250 mm lens, $150 Canon camera bag, tripod charger instruction manual, remote picture, and usb plug.
The seller bought it for a trip and took approx. 250 photos with it. She said that she filled up 1 card and 1/2 of another card. She is selling to help her son.

She said that she would be willing to go $350 for everything. I will be able to look at it tomorrow.

Can you tell if the 55-250 lens is an actual Canon lens of higher quality or could it be a kit lens from overseas?

Is this a good deal? Thanks Ken

I seem to remember one of the DSLR cameras that had a problem with oil on the sensor some time back. Have you checked that. It seems that it was one of the Nikon models. Not certain on that. Sorry to hear that you have the spots there.

Been sorting through 1500 of my Hawaii pictures, and started noticing something on a 1.1 fit. Spots, and lots of them in the left upper corner of the picture, and guess what camera I have.
I have never noticed these before because I shoot events and people mostly and very seldom so I do blue clear skies. Obviously I should have been, now I am ticked.
Help!!! Now what do I do, try and clean it myself, or send it out, my warranty is up in January.

Did the KC-97 thing from Hunter AFB, Savannah, GA to Tinker AFB to Los Angeles to Hickam AFB to Wake Island and on to Okinawa. We broke down in Los Angeles, Hawaii and Wake Island. I did that in the early 60's. That was a few days of my vacation when I was in the Army in Okinawa.

Talking about wind, some time back I was flying a photographer in a C-172 with the window open to take photos and he put the camera out without a strap and the camera disappeared. Needless to say "God only knows where that camera went".

When I was in the Army on an Special Forces A-Team as an Intel SGT I was issued a Leica M3 with the 35mm, 50mm and 135mm lenses. It was a tough and hard to beat camera. The quality of that camera has gone through my mind many times and I came close to buying one some time back just as a keepsake. We had a hide-away camera that was a Minox. I thought about it and decided at my age I should not be collecting any more. Not much use for a film camera anymore. Great cameras though.

In nearly 50 years of carrying a camera I have dropped a camera., once :(
I was up a 6 foot or so ladder, in a factory, surrounded by heavy machinery.
Concrete floor.
Camera was a Leica m3 with a 50mm lens. Lens a write off, camera still here with me today. Needs a clean but still takes good pics. Even the light meter which is still clipped to the top, gives accurate readings.
That was about 45 years ago.
Only time I use a strap is to save me carrying the dam thing.
I have hunted in the bush and tops for weeks on end. Riden horses, walked beaches and towns, and when taking a pic, out off goes the strap.
In my opinion and experience, a strap has no role to play when taking a picture.
If it's strapped to your hand, and you fall, how on earth is a strap going to help? Your camera will just hit the ground before you instinctively try to break your fall, with the hand holding the camera.
If you are going to drop your camera, well, o I don't know.
Maybe just be careful or something

I have done it several times on trips to the Philippines. It does get tiring. I now go a different way so that I can get breaks on the flight.
