I share your pain...a couple of suggestions, which may be repetitive... don"t confuse the "date modified" data that you see in the Mac Finder with the data you see in Lightroom. (I use Lightroom classic) In the Lightroom Library module, look at you images in grid view and hover your cursor over the image...a little window will pop up and show you the file name, and the date and time when the image was captured by the camera. Also, if you click on the image, all the metadata from the image, (histogram, camera, s/n, lens, f stop, shutter speed, etc etc will show up in the right hand panel...also the date and time will be there as well and. Normally, this will remain untouched when you edit the image...but, it can be edited if you want to. I think the suggestion to look for file names that are close by in name is a good one. Also, is there any that you may have put another SD card in your camera other that wasn't erased before you captured the image?
I can't say anything about the M1, but I have a new Mac mini with M2 silicon and a 4 year old Macbook Pro with Intel - no problems with L.R. Classic, PS or any of the other Adobe creative suite on either machine. No problems with Zoom either. If there really are problems with Zoom on an M1 based machine I suspect that Zoom will fix them in a hurry.
Just curious - why do you import from the SD card to your desktop and then from your desktop to LR? Why not import from the SD card directly into LR? I'm thinking LR sees the import from the desktop to LR as duplicates, but that's only a w.a.g.!
Cuteness overload! Totally adorable - thanks for sharing.
I've shot Chihuiy at the New York Botanical Gardens in the evening on two occasions using a Nikon D7200 and a 50mm f2.8 prime and my 18-140 kit lens with outstanding results. I personally don't think you need a CPL - most of the glass is let internally so there is very little, if any, glare. Tri or mono pod is extremely helpful if allowed.

No, I took the SD card out of the camera and plugged it into the pc, any ideas on how to get these pics back?
As the link suggests, the CTG is an index file but doesn't contain any images, so if you can see the images when the card is in the camera, they are on the card...somewhere.
I don't know what operating system you're using on the computer, but use the file explorer to look around the SD card to see if there are any folders above where the CTG file is located.
Good luck!
Check out this link - suggest you remove SD card from the camera and use a reader connected to your computer as it sounds like you connected your camera to the comouter.
