Great lens and you have the sense of what to do with it. Nice, peaceful images...we need more of that in our world.

Thank you Steve....I totally agree...this is from a local nature area about 3 miles from the house that is really quite remote feeling....one concrete pathway and a trex walkway and deck and 58 acres of undeveloped acreage with 2 ponds....right in the middle of the MetroMess of 7 million people.

Did you trade or sell your 18-270?

Great looking shots. From your perspective, how does sharpness compare with the 18-270?

I previously owned the 18-270 and I have to say that this lens is a surprising upgrade. I really had no intention of buying this lens when I attended a Tamron event at a local photography store, but after really looking this lens over Obviously I was sold. It seems to be every bit as sharp as the 18-270 if not more. I am shooting this on a Canon 7D Markii, and I was shooting the 18-270 on a Canon T5i.....but this 18-400 really seems sharp. Here is one more pic from a few days ago at a music festival from about 200 yards away from the stage @ iso3200; 40mm; f6.3 @1/500th......judge for yourself.

Sorry, I read your post as pin 1, rather than 1 pin... ignore my advice (unless the bent pin is pin 1 or 50). When I bent a pin on my 7D, it really was pin 1, so I lucked out.

No worries....it was great advice with a killer diagram....my issue is the pin is not bent, but rather it is recessed and not making contact within the card. I have contacted the seller and they are going to cover it under warranty, so I will be sending it in for repair.........thanks to all for the great advice and possible solutions.

I have looked very closely with a bright light, and it appears that 1 pin is depressed below the level of the others. So...is this something that I can attempt? or should this be done at the dealer? Thanks

I had 2 of my Lexar cards fail in my 7D and I stopped using them several years ago.

Just curious how can I tell...the card reads fine in the card reader, but now not responding in camera?

Remove the card and carefully examine those tiny pins and the same inside the card slot of the camera. See if your card reader can still read the card.

The reader still reads the card just fine and does not appear to be any bent pins in the CF slot in camera.

Last night I took my Lexar PRO 32gb UDMA7 160MB/s CF card out of my camera to transfer pictures to photoshop. Once I was done, I returned the card to the CF slot in the camera, the correct direction, and now the camera does not turn on or recognize the card once I finally got the camera powered up.This is a new card that has only been used for a couple of hundred shots...any suggestions or thoughts on this problem? This is my 1st camera that takes CF cards, and don't understand what could be going on.
