Seven years ago I had a slightly elevated PSA. Biopsy was ordered and showed that I had a very aggressive cancer even though I had had no symptoms. I had open surgery to remove my prostate. The cancer was contained to the prostate by only a paper thin wall, had it broken through it would have been nearly impossible to stop! On this Father's Day I want to urge all men who are 50 or more years old to get their PSA checked yearly, if not for yourselves, do it for your children and your loved ones. It is BS to say that the side effects of this test out weigh the benefits!!!! Even the side effects of treatment of prostate cancer are easier to take than the side effects of run away cancer and a prolonged slow and certain death.
Do not look at this as a chore, think of it as a chance for Grandpa to go to be a teenager again! I shot a similar party for my grand daughter a few years ago. It was held in a basement student rec area at a near by college, it had a kitchen area, a room for ping pong, a room for pool, and a lounge area. It was patrolled by several other parents, so I was free of all responsibility other than being a photographer. I used a single speed light mounted on a small light stand with a modifier that was small enough to maneuver in crowded tight spaces. You can quickly learn just where to set light to get best results. I had a ball and got to know her friends. Kids this age quickly adapt to a camera's presence ànd love to be shot. I was able to get many great candidate shots as well as staged a shots (many were suggested by the kids) and even a few more formal shots. Above all allow her so enjoy her big day and enjoy your chance to share it with her. Also, she and her friends will not be critical about your shots but will laugh a lot and enjoy whatever you get, and will also tell your grand daughter that she has a cool Grandpa!
Sorry to repeat, on a tablet that is acting up
Nice pose and lighting, well done!

I really up in Hendersonville and have lived in Kannapolis for over 40 years now. Glad to know that there are so many fellow Tarheels here. Welcome
It is possible that the photographer was using a flash to trigger multiple other flashes. Not the best way to set up for an event like this, but it is possible that you were triggering his flashes with your flash. This would not only use up his battery but also cause a delay for him while his flashes recycled.
Did you use the same lens for both shots? Was it designed for a crop or full frame sensor? Did the ambient lighting change between shots?
