I'm a very amateurish photo bug with more equipment than talent!
Been shooting for a few years.
I'm in north central Kansas.
Hoping to learn here (have been lurking for a bit)

Except for the Kansas part your introduction sounds a lot like the rest of us.
Welcome.

Not safe to create a general comp of EC for your camera. Get in the habit of looking at the histogram for each image you create and adjust the EC as needed. My 2 cents.

I agree. Living in the North I have found EC to be essential when taking photographs in the snow.

I purchased a used Nikon 12-24 a few years back for my D7000. I have found this lens to be exceptional. It is built like a tank and provides a perspective that is very unique. I use it often and have taken fantastic photographs on the street, boat yards and car shows. The only rule is get close, close and closer. Have fun.

My choices were predicated on my photographic ability and personal financial considerations.
They areas follows:
Nikon 12-24 f4
Sigma 24-70 f2.8
Nikon 70-300 4.5-5.6 VR
Thus far this works for me.

Canon 10x30 IS. Very good at a reasonable price $450 to $500.

How long ago was it purchased? My assumption is the +10 reference is in reference to shutter count.
Thank you in advance for your response.

Welcome from the mountains of New Hampshire. You will learn a lot on this site. However, a few people have a propensity to be rude. Just overlook their comments and enjoy.

Spent a year working in and around Hanover in 1961.

Ski Jumping in Hanover and Lebanon N.H. has traditionally been very active. When we traveled to meets or held meets at home we commonly ran into jumpers from that section of the state.

My grandparents emigerated from Norway to New Hampshire in 1897. Photographs like this make me consider a visit. Thank you.

The Nikon 35 mm 1.8 was the first non kit lens I purchased for my D 7000. I believe it is absolutely the best buy in the Nikon lineup. Fantastic photographs for under $200. Can't beat it.

I strongly believe in the concept of buying locally when items are the same and prices are close. I buy a lot of equipment from Hunt's Camera and Video in Manchester, New Hampshire. Prices are the same as the usual on line giants. I am able to handle the equipment, get advice and and ask questions. I also believe it is good for the economy.

"The universal law of breakage "states that if two camera lenses drop, your favorite and likely the more expensive will break first.
