The concern with using DX mode is that the effective megapixel size is reduced.
The 24 mp Z6 is reduced to about 10 mp.
The D850 or Z7 45 mp is reduced to about 20 mp, i.e. about the same as the Z50 or D500 sensor.
So what is wrong with 10 mp. Are you printing huge?

I purchased a Nikon Z 6 camera which I use mainly for landscape photography. I have also bought 70-200 z lens with teleconverter to 400, 14-30 lens and 24-70. What I find is 70-200 too cumbersome for everyday use. I want a lighter full framed lens which goes to 300. Only thing I come up with is Nikon 22-300. Not a Z lens but is this my best option? Help!
Why not the Z24-200 and use your DX mode when you need more than 200mm
Check website for HudsonHenry.com. His specialty is Panoramas, has videos and courses for same.
does not work for me. Thanks, anyway.
Thanks, works like a charm. Using Lightroom for six years and never came across that.
First time I have encountered this on Lightroom Classic. Somehow the filmstrip shrunk the size of the photos in the filmstrip, and I cannot figure out how to enlarge them back to their usual size. I even have Kelby's book which does not address this situation.
Try MPB.com to sell your 24-70. They bought mine for a far better price than KEH
Another vote for books (actual paper books). I hate e-books, videos etc for trying to learn something.
I have both the 200-500 and the newer 500PF. I am selling my 200-500 which should give you an idea. Shot thousands with both lenses (birds) and prefer the 500PF.. Slightly better resolution and much lighter, so hand holding for hours is a snap. Occaissionally miss the zoom feature when birds get close Just back up.
Other than Photoshop, what good photo stacking programs are out there
Cataracts coming out. Must decide (1) two distance lens or (2) two near vision lens) or (3) Distance lens in left eye and near vision lens in right eye. Using camera with right eye. has anyone gone through this, and what advice do you have.
some years ago I bot 24 books (8x11) which were of good quality, when I believe their printing was done in California??. A year later I ordered 24 books (8x11), and when they arrived were quite poor. A conversation with ZNO said they were now printing in China, and would replace the books. The replaced books arrived and were not much better than the first copies. Service was obviously good, but I have not ordered from them since,
I was on bh’ s wait list for 8 months. But, got mine from a smaller chain in 2 months. Put your name in at many dealers.
Many of the rreplies herein mention the D500 with the Nikon 200-500. I agree with one caveat. I have replaced my 200-500 with the new 500PF prime. lens. It is superior to the 200-500 and is much, much lighter and easier to shoot hand held. You mentioned cost is not important --- go with the 500 PF if you can find one.
