Beautiful!

Thank you HardworkingGal.

I thought when I retired I would have lots of time to go out and do the things I love. Unfortunately, like most people, time is still my enemy. Getting out to shoot somehow always seems to get pushed down on the priority list.

As a street photographer myself, I can't wait to see your art festival/farmers market pix.

Nice series Johnna. I like the nice soft bokeh. It can be tough shooting wide open in bright light. What lens were you using?

It's been too hot in Idaho to go out on the streets and take pix, so I've been having some fun playing in the studio.

An abandoned house up the road from us.

I really like this one, Sue. Good composition and the monochrome sets it off perfectly.

Like that Thom!!

Thank you Judy. Looking at your shots makes me realize that I miss New England and the family I love that I've left behind. Then I think about insane traffic, outrageous taxes, and no mountains...

I have a quote in my violin case that goes something like this: practice doesn't make perfect; it only increases the number of ways in which one can improvise and learn new ways to accomplish the same goal.

My mantra is, "If you play the right notes, it's classical. If you play the wrong ones, it's jazz. Either way you can't go wrong."

Thank you. I plan to do more challenges. I'm on a learning curve with my new, first DSLR, so it may take some time to get some more that are good enough to post. The two I posted were actually taken with my cell phone camera. I am wanting to try the miniatures setting on my new camera. Plus I just got a new 24 mm. lens today, so will be playing with that as well.

Don't let the DSLR scare you. There's no magic in them. The principal is exactly the same as with any camera — aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. There is no such thing as not good enough to post. What you think may not be good enough, someone else will love. You'll be fine with your new camera. BTW, there is nothing wrong with shooting with you phone. Those cameras are really pretty good, and most are magnitudes better than DSLRs where just a few years ago. You're doing great. Keep up the good work.

Not my best shots, but some of the ones I had the most fun taking.

Mt. Fujii from our condo balcony in Depoe Bay, OR. One heck of a long lens — yeah, right!
