They grow a variety of sweet corn here in Idaho called Bodacious. The kernels are a mixture of white and yellow and it's the best I've ever tasted in my life! Have you ever heard of this type?

Yes and it is sweet and tasty. I could almost become a vegetarian during corn and tomato season. We are lucky we live in a small town and the farm stands only carry grown on the property goods. They also sell a lot of air-loom and organic vegetables. There is a couple farmers that will take orders from locals and make fresh picked daily/weekly deliveries at no extra charge to them. I sign up every year.

Every year, I plant several tomato plants.... usually a few beefsteaks and a couple of cherry tomatoes. A couple of years ago, I planted a variety called Goliath. They certainly lived up to their name! This particular one measured a little over 17 1/2" in circumference!

Although they were very large, they didn't have that wonderful, acidic taste of the beefsteak variety that I like so much, so, this year it's back to the time-tested varieties.... and my mouth is a waterin'! I love tomato and mayonnaise sandwiches! Nothin' better than a sun-warmed, red-ripe tomato with lots of acid!

It's almost sweet corn and tomato time in Indiana. The best time of the year.

There is no limit to its use and you are bound to be close to a devise that can run Evernote. You can even email your favorite photos to Evernote to have them to show off to friends.

It is the first program that I have come across that actually works as well as it says it does. I use it on OS X, IOS, Windows, and Android with no issues.

The Evernote app is my personal filing cabinet. I file many useful bits of information in some of the folders I have created. One folder - Personal, contains documents like a scanned copy of my drivers license, birth certificate, auto insurance policy, etc. I have one called Travel where I put in flight, auto rental and hotel reservations (when you sign up for Evernote you get an email account that you can forward any email you received to be filed in Evernote.

But I also have a Photography folder where I keep my camera equipment inventory, a .pdf of my camera's manual, and other subject related to photography. But what I also place in the folder (notebook) are instructions for setting on different kinds of shots that I don't take frequently, but need to have available when needed, like cheat sheets. These shots include instructions for: taking shots of the moon, fireworks, Disney rides, from an airplane, sunsets, landscapes, snow, and at a concert.

Evernote is free and available on IOS, droid, etc. So you can have it on your desktop, laptop, iPhone, iPad, and smartphone.

It's a great app to file anything that you may need to access for work, home, hobby, travel, etc.

I have used Evernote for several years and it is great, plus works across most platforms. It is really great for clipping articles that interest you but don't have time to read till later.

The viewer/reader wins - various ideas, sometimes conflicting, but all products have pros and cons. Some reviewers mention some points, and some mention others. Consulting many sources makes for an informed consumer.

Ken seems to go to extremes - no tripod, no raw. He'll love a camera one day and hate it the next. I read his column for entertainment, although he does have lots of good advice. Just keep an open mind.

Snapchick seems torn between being a "babe" and being an expert on photography. I don't visit very often.

Fro does actually know photo, but I find him hard to take. I think he would increase his following if he changed his appearance and his delivery style. Good info but hard to watch.

There are so many good, serious reviewers out there.

EDIT: As for who wins, that would depend on the contest. For Ken, it would be a written test. Snapchick would favor bikini mud wrestling, and Fro would probably want a rap competition. :D

Jerry your overview is accurate. Slightly off your subject though. When I grow up (retire shortly) I want to be just like you. The guy who spends his days looking up things for everyone else and just having a good time. Keep up the good work Jerry and continue enjoying yourself for many years to come.

Do cats get excited? :D

Yes they do at midnight and I have 3. They sound like a thundering herd of horses. The cat that is on my avatar has the skills to open every door in the house, turns on light switches, and also likes to turn off the the switch on the side of the furnace. I had to buy a cover for it like you put on outside outlets.

Nikon has made a camera mount for dogs, and it has a heart monitor. When the dog's heart rate increases, the camera clicks.

Our dog would actually have to get out of his recliner and do something for a change before we would get any pictures. I was home all day today and forgot we had a dog until the wife came home.

Oh not you MT. You should continue wasting other peoples time.

I have learned a lot from MT and it was not a waste of my time. You on the other hand have wasted my time by writing this better than everyone else Post. I am new to photography and want to learn all I can. This is a forum for friendly construction advice and discussion not mean spirited comments. I guess your tag line at the bottom of your post says it all about you.

This Gitzo has a maximum height of 6'3" which should put the camera view finder or screen at about 6'5". If you are 6'3", I expect your eyes are about at a 6"0" height.

It holds 40 lbs and is $224.

This is a very good recommendation. I am 6'1" and purchased this monopod from B&H. I have no regrets.

Does anyone have any experience with the Sigma DG 150-500 lens? I am considering purchasing one to shoot photos of a new eagles nest I discovered while on patrol a couple of weeks ago. The nest is about two hundred yards away from where I'll be shooting.

I purchased it to use with my D7100 and do not have any focus issues. I just tried it out on my D810 today at a motorcycle race and it performed very well. It may not be a pro lens but it works for me.

I pretty much keep this lens on my D810. It is great for landscapes and architectural photography. I also use my D800 and pretty much keep either my 70-200 or 24-70 mounted on it.

I use this lens on my D810 also and zero regrets about what it cost me.

When you're shooting outside, be aware that exposure to the sun, even on a cloudy day, can eventually lead to various types of skin cancer. Unlike a sunburn, it's not going to happen immediately, but can show up years later. Using a good sunscreen can help to prevent that, but clothing alone will not. The sun goes right through clothing. You can buy shirts, hats, and pants that block out the harmful rays of the sun, and you can treat regular clothing with RIT Sun Guard, which is what I do.

I know this all to well. I have a 2"X6" chunk taken out of my shoulder that tested positive for skin cancer.

I love the upgrage the D7200 provides from my D700 - especially low light performance. I've attached 2 photos taken in my darkened wine cellar with the same 35mm Nikon 1.8G lens on each camera tripod mounted. I could not have taken this photo hand held with the D7000 since I was at maximum iso of 6400 and the fastest shutter speed was 1/8 sec. The D7200 took the photo at 1/25 sec which would have given me a clear hand held shot- even with my septagenarian tremor.
My only complaint is with Nikon - not the camera. The new micro USB connector cord, which makes my collection of old cords obsolete, is only 2 feet long and doesn't reach the USB port on my CPU which sits on the floor. I guess I'll start downloading directly from the cards. Also Nikon didn't include a hot shoe cover (which was included with my D7000) which I ordered separately from B&H for $2. Nikon support said they didn't plan to make a longer cord. Perhaps if enough of us complain, they or some 3rd party will make a longer one.

I bought a little device that allowed me to connect 2 USB cables together. I use it with the short cord supplied by Nikon and it works just fine. I forget where I found it online, but Amazon probably also sells it. I t also works with USB 3 protocol if you need that.
