I saw one photographer use a large McDonalds drink cup cut down a bit as a modifier. Don't laugh I tried it and it works.

Adorama, B&H, Cameta and Roberts are my go to places. Sometimes Amazon if its actually from Amazon, they have great return polices. Also Adorama, Cameta and Roberts sell on eBay so sometimes I buy from those vendors via eBay.

Abes used to be good a long time ago. Never heard of BuyDig

About 12 years ago I had an Epson wide carriage printer that I used fake ink in it. Ruined the head. Not Epson's fault but a five years later when looking for a wide printer I chose Canon. I only use OEM ink no matter how tempting the price of garbage ink is. When Epson stopped supporting another all in one printer with OEM ink I tossed the printer and bought an upgraded one.

The problem is with the advent of Walmart and the response by both Target and and KMart most people want to buy for the lowest price possible and try to avoid sales tax as much as possible. Every industry is facing this issue. Even cooking supplies can be bought on the Inet cheaper than in the local stores.

I was born and raised in NYC, when the USAF sent me to Texas it was amazing what I learned and saw. Now I'm in FL and have no desire to visit NYC again.

Really? You gotta' be kidding! I see this same post over and over again in this section. I don't get it. You mean to tell me that these clowns who ask these questions have all these lenses for their nice cameras and either don't know what they have or what they are suited for? C'mon! These have to be the same sort of people who buy D850's and shoot in auto only.

I have a plethora of lenses and I know which each and every one of them does and what they are best used for. If one is going to spend good money on a product, don't you think one would know what they are buying?

Normally, I only take one lens with me an 18-250mm telephoto). This is usually all I need. However, this time, I am taking two lenses with me since some of my shooting will include an indoor venue of which I have no idea what the lighting conditions will be. This would be a Zeiss 16-50mm F2.8 lens. That ought to do it. Plus the fact that I have a camera that does really well in low light conditions.

You see, when I buy a lens, I buy it for a purpose in mind and then I put it through the ringer. Isn't this what one is supposed to do?

The way I figure it, if some one has to go on to a photographic forum and has quality lenses but has to ask which lens to take or use on a trip/cruise, then I would think they would be better off with a point & shoot and be done with it. They would also save a ton of money buy not buying all of that expensive equipment which they have no idea how to use it..

I am done with my rant.

Thank you.

Years ago I had a bad experience with 3rd party ink, it ruined a printer. I use genuine ink these days. Yes it costs more and its probably the same stuff as 3rd party but when I sent in the printer in 2015 for service out of warranty I was surprised that even though the printer was 4 years old the service was free.

Depends on what your after. The 2015 car show I attended in town was oversold and the cars were parked close together to squeeze them all in. Then in 2016 and 2017 it was undersold and there was a full space between each car. For the 2015 event I used a Nikon 80/200. For 2016 and 2017 I carried two bodies one with a 16/35 and the other with the 80/200 lens.

Personally I would jump at the opportunity to purchase a DSLR without video, wi-fi and all the other features that make them so blasted expensive. All many photographers need is a camera. All the other technology just adds a lot of cost which I would rather put in lenses. Give me a DSLR that takes photos and photos only. I can get all the other technology, if I want it, from a myriad of other products. I really believe there is a huge market for this and average folks will flock to it because of the practicality and lower cost. This probably won't happen but I can dream can't I?

Rome is a wonderful place to visit. History abounds on every street. Except watch your belongings. Get a camera strap that has a steel cable running through it. Wear a money belt. The gypsies will rob you. They will also crowd you on buses and trains.

Most people start with DX and remain happy with that format. Lets face it the D500 is a very, very good DX body. Usually the FF bodies have more advanced features. I started with a D70 and a 35mm dx lens. A few years later I switched to a D700, then when that was swiped I bought a d800. Saving up now for a d850.

FWIW, I'm a councilor for a youth organization. I take annual pictures of the kids (ages 12 to 20) to display on the wall, which is private property. Each year I require that the parents and/or youth sign a photo release indicating that the photos will be displayed on the wall in the room, with no identifying information. If the the parents refuse then, which occasionally someone does, then they person is skipped.
