3 different evenings this week in the Coos Bay area, we camped and saw a lot of rain, but the sun came out every evening.

This steam engine has been traveling the midwest to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. It passed by near here yesterday and I was able to get a couple of decent shots of it. Here's one.

Very nice, the train and the shot.

I shot these this morning (7-18) on the way home from a doctor’s checkup. Best viewed in download if you care to.

Please note that I am not and have never considered myself to be a nature photographer. For me, these are lucky shots, taken from the road with my Sony a6000 and a 55-210 lens cranked all the way out and severely cropped. I am learning to love that camera and its images.

The buck was over 350 yards away, and the birds about 150.

John,
I would say those are very good-especially the Egret flying.

Great set Terry. That must be some kind of high tide!!

Don

Well Don, it was supposed to read 196 feet clearance from the river to the bridge, not 96, my typing skills went out with the tide.

We camped this last week at Ft Stevens, a picture of the Peter Iredale, and a couple of the Astoria -Megler Bridge, 4.1 miles long and 96 foot clearance between the Columbia and the bridge at high tide.

Hi Hoggers
I am planning a car trip from San Diego next week to Sedona for one night and then driving to Grand Canyon for two nights. Please help me with suggestions as to what would be good spots not to miss as well as what equipment I should take. I have a Sony A7iii, with a Sony 16-35mm, Tamron 24-70mm, Nikon D750, with 24-120mm, 28-300mm, 10-24mm, 20mm, 105mm, 18-55mm, 55-200mm, and Tamron 150-600mm G1, Gitzo tripod, and ND & CPL filters. I would like to carry on hikes what will fit in my backpack. I am more familiar with my Nikon as I have owned it now for over 4 years and purchased Sony late last year.
I am 75 yrs and still can carry some equipment but not too much. I want to do more landscape photography and some wild life if comes my way.
Look forward to hearing your suggestions on good spots and choice of equipment.
Thanks.
Mikky
Hi Hoggers br I am planning a car trip from San Di... (show quote)

I did both last year and used my d-750. I used the 24-120 a lot but also a 20mm. I think that would cover most shots you would take. I did not really use my 200-500 much at all, excepting for a few wildlife shots.

Haven't had much of a chance to go through my photos from Yellowstone. This is a cutie taken late afternoon on a gloomy day so thought I would post. Not a great photo clarity wise, but a scene you don't often see. These are one-year-old cubs.

Really a cool shot!

Beautiful image, Terry! It speaks “serenity” to me.

We had a fairly nice fall this year. (late, but short) The colors peaked at the same time which it hasn't done down here since 2012. I only had time to get out on a couple of evenings but found some things worth shooting. I got really lucky with the horses.

Each photo is very nice.
