Two big thumbs-up from me on both your changes, especially the second one! However, in the end it is still YOUR vision, so tell me what you think?

Thank you... Yes these are more along the lines of what i was trying to portray. The first one I was afraid the other leaves would be too distracting to the leaf I wanted all the focus on so I cropped down but looking at it again I see the brown leaves are no contest against that beautiful one. The second one I think to get the true portrayal I would need to retake the picture from a different angle or something. The angles of the tree and the ground full of leaves were just so interesting I like this cropped shot but when I was lining up the shot the whole tree was in it. Unfortunately don't think I'll get another chance so it will just have to stay in my mind and I'll have to just live with this one. Thank you again for the time you have taken to help me I TRULY appreciate it.

To get the best results you will often need to do some more processing of the image produced by the HDR software. What HDR software are you using? They each work a little differently. What other photo processing software do you have besides your HDR software?

Most of the time I use Photomatix Pro to combine the images. But I usually stop after I get the intermediate 32 bit image. I save that as a TIF and then open it in Photoshop CC for more tweaking. Sometimes I will then process them even further using Topaz or Nik plugins. I have occasionally even used NIK HDR Pro on the single image.

One other thing. Always work with original RAW images if you have them. As you process them always save your results as Tif, PSD, or some other file format the preserves all the data. Only save them as a JPEG after you have done all your processing. The JPEG format compresses the image and in the process throws away as much as half the data in the file.

oh maybe this is my bigger problem then i only have lightroom and adobe hdr photoshop thingy. are the other programs expensive?

I have been having the dickens of a time trying to post using the store original box ( i check it and nothing happens) I really need to ask my husband to help me out with this but life has been very busy so I apologize it probably won't get addressed any time soon (bigger fish to fry). Just a quick question after i merge the three RAW photos together do I have to do anything else to make the colors "pop"? Because i just merged the photos together and saved it and posted it.

Hi mariposa!

#1 appears to be out of focus. If you were using macro feature, or just zooming in, it can be difficult to maintain focus, especially while likely bending over :) Re the composition, I might leave a little room at each end of the leaf.

#2 very nice color. Again, I might leave a little room (stem is cut off) and/or move to a less-busy background.

#3 this is a pleasing image to me - interesting perspective (looking up), and nice contrast between the red fruit and the yellow leaves. I also like that virtually the entire image is filled with the yellow leaves and there's nothing to distract, such as a different species of tree.

#4 this one is a little busy and I can't find anything of interest to rest my eye on. Maybe a close-up shot of fewer leaves?

#5 not sure of your subject. Were you drawn to the colors of the leaves, shape of nearest tree? Leaves on the ground? Maybe experiment by taking some shots from closer up or singling out one aspect of the scene that was particularly interesting to you. This one is a bit difficult since most everything is in shadow.

#6 I love your out-of-focus background with the well-distributed points of light. I like that you showed a bit of stem in with the leaf close-up. Only thing I'd suggest, especially for a centered subject, is to shoot vertically instead on horizontally.

All the best, hope you are enjoying this wonderful hobby!
Hi mariposa! br br #1 appears to be out of focus.... (show quote)

#1 You are 100% correct i was bending over lol so i will pay closer attention to that next time. Also i cropped it that close in pp for some reason can't remember why right now so i will go back and fiddle with the pic and try and jog my memory and see if i can leave more space like you suggested.

#2 I purposefully cut the stem off because their was another colored stem nearby and i didn't want it in my composition. Yes i could have moved the leave but my little ones were already so far ahead with my hubby i didn't want to take the extra three secs and "lose" the shot.

#3 Thank you

#4 This one I liked the leading lines of the branches and twigs but your right the color isn't good and there really isn't anything the "lines" are pointing to. I would scrap if i knew how lol Is there a way to delete a photo after it has been posted for some time?

#5 Yes it was the shape of the tree and the polar opposites between it and the tree right behind it... the one in front all green no leaves on the ground the one behind full of color and the ground loaded with foliage. In your opinion what can i do to make that stand out more? crop? taken at a different angle?

#6 Thank you I will try that in the future
THANK you so much for taking the time to help me this has been very helpful and informative for me.

As a very new photographer I joined this forum so I could receive guidance through my new journey down this path. However when I post photos in the gallery either i'm immediately buried by other posts or i receive comments that say the picture is fine. When i want to be told my picture is amazing i post in google plus when i post here i want to learn how i could have improved. However in order to post in the photo analysis section you must have a SPECIFIC problem my specific problem is "I'm new to photography and i'm trying to figure out how to take nice pictures." Since this is not allowed in the analysis section i have to just post in the gallery and wait and see. Why is admin having such a big problem with this??
