Think of it as picking up your trusty Nikon F with a Photomic head and using the available information to make the decisions necessary to make the picture you want to make using the basic functions of the camera.

No, in full manual, you set everything yourself, no metering either, you look at what you got and go by the sunny 16 rule! Based on that you chose your exposure and set everything manually!

Hello,

I have a question about focus stacking in Photoshop CS6.

I download my RAW files into Adobe Camera Raw where I begin my editing process. Once done, I move the images into Photoshop

When done in ACR, I press the OPEN key in order to move the images from ACR directly into Photoshop. Once there, I go to FILE, select SCRIPTS and then choose LOAD FILES INTO STACK.

Suddenly this all changed.

Now after working in ACR and moving into Photoshop and then go to FILE and select SCRIPTS, I get a box that reads (from top to bottom) Delete All Empty Layers, Flatten All Layer Effects, Flatten All Masks, Layer Comps to WPG and (at the bottom) Browse.

This is not what I want.

I suspect I inadvertently brushed several keys; that said, I would like to be able to go back to the FILE – SCRIPTS – LOAD FILES INTO STACK sequence in order to focus stack my images.

How do I do this?

Your suggestions, comments, and/or instruction would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

It's still the same, do it while still in ACR and click on >tools< , Photoshop- load files into layers, or similar then you get to choose, stacking, panorama etc. and you good to go!

Question to those that have sent items under warranty to Canon Repair Center for repair:

Is it customary for the customer to pay for shipping to the center? Are the shipping costs refunded to the customer after the fact or is it just the consumer cost of a failed product?

I am sending a lens in for repair (still under original warranty) from the NW coast to the East cost and no prepaid label was included in the downloaded paperwork. I anticipate the cost of shipping one way with insurance will exceed 35.00 since it's a heavy lens and traveling a long distance.

I think that applies to CPS members only (then there are no shipping costs ever)!

My photography hobby has continued to grow over the last seventy years. Early on, one used a tripod with a pan head for steadiness. Then ball heads became popular. Now I read of gimbal heads.

I generally shoot scenery, people and local flora. Rarely take an action shot or one of a moving target.

Question: Would a gimbal head offer any advantage, even with a long telephoto lens, or am I developing GAS?

I use a variety of lenses on a Sony A7R 111.

Any thought appreciated.

That's what gimbals are for (long tele lenses), because of their weight and size! For smaller lenses, a gimbal is not needed!

Although the sky was a bit turbulent last night I had to try out the new telescope. The first image below is a closeup of the southern part of the moon at 4000mm focal length. While examining the image closely I noticed a couple of faces. Our brains seems hardwired to pick out faces even where none exist. The second image is an extreme crop near the edge of Clavius crater where I noticed a couple of faces and outlined them in the photo. (There are lot more to find for those inclined to do so). All questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Based on the type of shooting she does landscapes and wildlife, I think a refurbished Canon 80d would the bill and budget nicely. Buying refurbished saves some money which I have I done a couple of times and the equipment is basically brand new and has a warranty. The 80d can be had for $900.00 on Canon's site.

The 80D is not FF!

Some years ago I finally bought my dream camera, a Nikon F5 with a Nikon multi-control back MF-28, a Nikon flash SB-28, and a Nikor 24-120 lens. I had hardly even used it when digital took over and I switched to that. So, since then the F5 and related equipment has been stored in my closet. I realize the decision is mine but if it were yours would you keep it or sell it?

I would finally start to use the crap out of it, has been sitting in quarantine (closet) for way too long!

Does anybody have experience with this lens?

Have a gentleman selling one for $645 in mint condition with the carry bag.

Thank you to all who respond

I sure like it a lot, especially for birding, as it has latterly no weight, so one can hand hold it all day and not feel a thing! It is also a good performer!

In most lenses its around 5.6 or 8 (ballpark), but its different for each lens!

You can use any shutter speed you want, as long as you adjust aperture and/or ISO accordingly for the desired exposure. In Sunny 16 Rule, shutter speed is not fixed at a specific value.
