I use both Olympus and Sony both systems have their performance advantages. So I suggest renting something first just see if it (Sony/ Nikon/canon/etc.) will work/be to your liking. Good luck.

Good for you, in the face of physical impairments you found a way to continue to make photographs. Don’t let anyone put you down for the equipment that you are using. Remember some of the great photographs were made using cameras and lenses considered to be far from professional quality equipment.

There are plenty of OMD pre owned out there. My suggestion would be to look into newer models as the bodies are capable of so much more and all of your lenses will work fine

Looking at an Olympus OM10 II with a 24-42 lens & 42-150 lens (all used/ex. condition) for a small, light weight walk-around camera. Priced at about $450. I know a Nikon z50 would fill that niche nicely, but out of budget quite a bit. Any thoughts on the Oly, please?

While Olympus equipment is excellent the glass your looking at isn’t Olympus best and isn’t fast it is fun

Don’t blame the camera! By all account as you stated you pushed the limits of any camera I use both Sony and Olympus in such a dark environment any image is going to fall apart. You do have a good camera even if it is 13 years old. Learn your camera discover it’s limitations enjoy photography

I think the club style contest is the best learning experience you get. Every meeting you bring forward your best work and the judge may say “I like that one” and then in detail tells you how to improve it seemingly ripping it to shreds. That rock is too bright and draws the eye away from… or darken the sky a bit this is not a picture of the sky… or tighten the crop a bit that will … . If you came to have your ego puffed you will be disappointed and angry. But if you came to learn you will see the judge has pushed you away from good toward great. You might appreciate that mean judge.

Finally someone with an open mind… I personally think if you’re entering an art (photography) competition you, as the artist, must take away something learned, provided the judging comes with CC. It’s a way to grow. I also listen to the cc given to other images keeping an open mind using the opportunity, to learn. I’ve entered many competitions, did I agree with the judge not always, did I win/place not always, did I go away learning something most of the time. That said there is definitely good judges and people that should not judge. I most definitely feel growing as an artist one needs cc and not just by your family and friends but from someone that is not personally connected to you.

The one thing few ppl take into consideration is the lenses, after all what is making the image the glass! There isn’t one of the major system manufacturers that don’t make “consumer or kit” lenses that just aren’t as sharp or contrasty at the “pro-lineup”. All that said yes cameras today also have a roll in image quality. My point to this is don’t pair a top of the line body with a kit lens and expect top rate images…
