This is the way I see it. If your present camera is doing the job you have no reasons to go to a full frame. The lens you want to buy was designed for use with the smaller sensor.
Quality wise it is not true that images from a full frame are better than images of a cropped sensor. They could be better when it comes to noise control but the new cameras with smaller sensors are doing very well. Image quality not that different using the same lens.
If your Rebel is working as you want it to work for you buying better glass is the way to go. Sylvia, from the UK and a frequent contributor to the forum uses her kit lens with outstanding results for landscape and general photography.

My advise is to save your money for better glass.

I agree -- also if you want to ALSO do full frame go for a good used one. I bought a 5D classic (mark 1) and use both my Rebels and the Canon 5D -- without having spent too much money as almost all my lenses fits FF and my Rebels.

Of course, it depends on many factors but from my personal experience, Canon 5D mk 1 is a great camera for portraits (of course the "right" lenses are needed but - hey - get a used "nifty fifty" and you could make some descent work). This is an old, Canon full frame camera, allowing plenty of light in.

Thank you for the story of Cade's Cove -- I enjoyed reading about the settlement and general history!

Yes, and they had BUMPERS! I think we would save ourselves much expenses if we still had bumpers. And it is hard to believe that these old vehcles are so rusty - I feel old!

You may not have had the pleasure of listening to jazz singer, Carmen McRae. A voice as clear as a bell and with perfect enunciation of lyrics. Yes, you can understand every word.
Here's two from a live TV appearance.

A violin is a violin and a "fiddle" is something you fiddle or fool around with! Sorry, but the term "fiddle" is really slang for violin--period. Only the English language carries such a term as "fiddle " for violin...you go figure.

I enjoyed seeing your photos of your violins -- beautiful!

Girlfriend Carol and I have relocated from NJ to NC and are settling in nicely. Ok, we're living out of boxes and boxes in the new house! Love this area, and the pace of life is so much nicer, slower, quieter. Here are a few shots from lunch along the Calabash River the other day.

"Calabash" --- Isn't that the name for "squash"? Lovely photos!

I recently updated to Mac OS Catalina, and immediately began having problems accessing certain programs and apps. Apple support helped me regain connectivity, but when it came to Photoshop they said I had to contact Adobe. I have Photoshop Elements 12, and since the update of the operating system, the program closes unexpectedly. Usually just after I complete my edits and just before I save them. Has anyone had a similar issue, and if so, what steps did you take to resolve it? Thanks, Herb

Apple ain't what she used to be!! Too many irons in the fire, keeping people confused, busy making a buck, too much change, etc. Apple, take a deep breath, relax and go back to your original business values!!

straying off the beaten path, a little ( people do post youtube links, once in a while ); since many, or most of us have a dslr that shoots video, I wonder how many shoot an occasional ( say10 - 60 sec ) video with their dslrs ( such as fireworks, wildlife, etc. )? does anyone know a really easy software to use to take clips from these videos and stitch them together to make a compilations ?

I just use my Sony camcorder and edit in Imovie or iPhoto. I could never see the use of a photo camera to make videos. Period!

What would your mother think if you told her you edit in 8-bit?

She would wonder why I'm not using the modern terminology i.e. "one dollar". (two bits=25 cents; four bits=50 cents; six bits=75 cents and eight bits=$1.00) She would not know much if not anything about the other "bits". LOL - I guess that is why you posed the question about bits.
