One reason for RAW is you can increase the dynamic range in your image. That said many newer cameras are also doing this with JPGs. Nikon has what they call Automatic D-Lighting to help with this. I'm sure other cameras have something similar. Or, they just do it with no setting adjustment needed.

I know I will get replies telling me good Raw is, but, as a non-expert photographer with my new Nikon I find JPG Fine about as good as I need and easier to use.
No doubt experts will not use anything else but I bet the average Joe could not tell the difference and with modern edit programmes a huge amount can be done with JPG

The main reason, We get a day off from work. Oh Yeah, something about a guy named Columbus who they say discovered the US. Who are these Viking people?

This is for the American Forum members. I just noticed that Columbus Day is coming up for you in a couple of weeks and it got me curious.

Just why exactly do you celebrate a Columbus Day?

I believe I have had tea made from these tea bags.
*Waste not, Want not.

Beer floats also. Learned this when the mad ex tossed overboard a case of coke and a case of beer. For some reason this just made her a little more mad. I just sat there and drank my beer.

Putting dry tea bags in smelly shoes will absorb the odor.
* Do you have to keep them in there while walking.

A can of Diet Coke floats in the water, but a can of regular Coke sinks.
* So if you drink Diet Coke you won't drown ??

I agree. I can remember my grandmother doing the same thing. They were so good.

They aren't our daddy's and grand daddy's pigs are they? Even the Mexican food is now getting away from fat/lard.
I still think the best biscuits and corn bread in the world are cooked in bacon grease. My grandmother made the dough or batter while the bacon cooked in a large cast iron skillet and then drained most of the fat off and used the skillet for cornbread and rolled biscuits in the fat before putting them on a baking sheet.

Hey Old Salt, I guess I shouldn't worry, after all it is bacon, but something that needs no refrigeration does worry me. I have tried both, frozen and pre-cooked, I lean toward the frozen. Also, when baking bacon I sometimes add flavors I like to the bacon. Chipotle, fresh cracked black pepper or a cumin/chili powder blend. Sometimes it's just plain old bacon.

Right now bacon? Cooking bacon is very messy. This is why I bake the whole package. 1 1/2 pounds. I lay a paper towel on a paper plate. One layer of cooked bacon then another paper towel. Continue this. When cool the paper plate slides in a gallon ziplock and into the freezer. Need two slices? Remove slices then cook eggs. Bacon is now ready for your breakfast.

There are some pretty good local, thick cut slab bacon producers around that are pretty good. For regular store bought, I prefer Oscar Meyer bacon, flavor is not to overbearing and it is consistent in taste. I do however buy the pre-cooked Hormel (it's thicker) when I want some, "right now" bacon. Great for that quick craving.. Toast an English muffin, put a couple pieces of pre-cooked bacon on it with a slice of cheese and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Or just a good ole BLT. I would eat a lot more vegetables if they tasted like bacon.

Way too funny. Hadn't seen these. A few days before the opening of the NFL season someone asked me if I was exited about the start and my reply was, "Yes, looking forward to watching a bunch of millionaires running back and forth."

NFL is falling apart just like the rest of USA.
Players should fight each other, not children or wife or girl friends.

Look at the news of Homeland Security, WH security, TSA, prison guards in FL, etc. :?:

Freedom of thought is now gone? POT is taking over for tax purposes.

Men are not shaving anymore? Look at all the pro sports guys with beards? Other than sports, who would hire these people?

What % of adults are getting married? How many wedding photographers are out of work?

How many people waited in line for the new iPhone 6?
They should be at work, and not using their their high priced credit cards?

Of course, I'm at the PC instead of the phone. LOL

As I replace equipment my 20 year old grandson gets presents. So far, D90, D80, 70-300, Bogen Tripod, Brown Line flash units, and the list goes on. He can't wait for me to replace the D7000 and D600 and the fx lenses. I tell him to dream on.

My favorite place in the car was the in the front standing on the hump looking over the dash.

And by the way Sarge, some things are in there twice.
