My husband and I spent a beautiful Saturday at Navy Pier and the Lakefront (in Chicago)!!

Buckingham Fountain is the highest spouting fountain in the world. It's neat, at night, when it shows off in height and colors. Makes a room, across Boul Mich, at the Hilton, worth the price!

Yes, incase you were thinking "it".

I have used non-brand batteries for a while with no problem at all. They last the same and when they die or lost, no problem at all. I purchased batteries from ADORAMA "Flashpoint" the price was like getting them for nothing compared to the Canon prices. Canon $50.00 Flashpoint on sale $8.00, not a real mind tester for sure. I have the Rebel 1100D T3

Seems there is a culture in UHH that demands over charging. If they are not bragging about how much they paid for something then they are not happy. I know this is gonna twist their tail---I even got free freight on my 3 $2.00 batteries.

You have some gang busters camera retailers down town. I recall a fun shop to visit under the "L" behind Marshall Fields.

Don't wait too long to get that back up battery especially if you leave the GPS function on and you use the main display for shooting - they will eat up your battery.

Over three years ago I replaced an early model Pentax DSLR with my current K10D. I admit that I am no where near as erudite as many UHH members so I will not beat around the bush. I Bought three GT Max "Battery Packs" for Two bucks a piece. (The replaced camera used AA's). That's correct $6.00 total. To date they have never let me down, I always carry a spare, and show on a charger, at full charge right on the required 7.4V. Every so often we Texans, like a blind hog, find an acorn.

At the risk of enticing more folks to relocate to Florida, I feel I must present a somewhat different view. Approximately 300 miles to the Southwest of Volusia County, in Hernando County, lies a small island in the Weeki Wachee river known only to residents as "the island". There is only one way in and one way out, over a small bridge. There are no stores, no businesses of any kind on "the island", so there is no reason for anyone except those who live there to cross the bridge. I am one of the fortunate few who enjoy one of the last little spots of paradise in the state of Florida. When one crosses the bridge he finds himself in a totally different world. The residents of "the island" are a close-knit group and everyone knows everyone. There is no place anywhere, to my knowledge, that offers the peace and laid-back, easy living that can be found on "the island".

You are indeed fortunate!. I promise not to breathe a word. Many of us, feel much the same about our adopted home, Tomball, TX.

I can see you've done your time here. Us loonies who remain in the state just take it all in stride. Strange is normal. We love it and wouldn't have it any other way.

How I described Volusia County to non residents: 1)Supported a yearly event where psychotics drove fast and only turned left to cover 500 miles, 2) Another event that happened before the 500 called "Bike Week" that ended, every year with a body count "gee this year we only killed 13",and 3)The same event where it was damn near impossible to receive a traffic ticket for anything but "loud pipes" and not to mention, 4) a dysfunctional airport that creates cottage industries called shuttles to transport travellers to OIA cuz the two airlines that serve Daytona charge so much more! Oh and what about insurance costs because a vast majority of locals live in "Mfg'd homes" that hurricanes just love to relocate?!

This is Florida, Gramps. Everything's strange here.......didn't you see my pics?

Jimjay sir: Yes, and that explains my comments. It's related to and reason why we gave up on the Ormond Beach, Port Orange mentality returning to Texas and sensibility. Got tired of every time we looked up and were rewarded by a sky full of contrails over the Volusia County area from commercial jet travel at 35K' and some moron with a tin foil hat on backwards started shouting "Chemtrails" and other conspiracy idiocy. But sometime I do miss the "Twilight Zone" "sky falling" neighborhood.

I shot this guy while he was resting along side the road on his way to Houston with the trail riders heading to the Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was on the trail for over 2 weeks.

C'mon, two weeks on a trail ride to the ""DOME"? Have you seen how these folks , first off, darn near have to get in line to ride and the evenings are pre scouted with some of the best eats you'll ever enjoy! Two weeks? I'd take it in a minute! The trail ride has always been a show and a half!

Shot these over a period of time and have not been able to ID them. Who can help?

Did you recently have anything strange land in your backyard? Last month there was a meteor shower in our hemisphere. Be on the lookout for black SUV's and strange men in dark glasses!

Perhaps I'm bent strangely, but I believe offshore oil rigs to be some of the most impressive, if not beautiful architecture designed by the mind of man! That's in the hot sun or on the horizon in the dark of night.
Thanks for the creatively beautiful portrait!
