Beautiful car. I personally think it is a tad nicer than the Mustang.

I'd never really thought about that. Don't tell my Sister nad Brother in Law; I think you're right.

So it has "died" at 91445, that would appear to be about what you might expect. Some may go longer but it's hardly premature, I googled shutter life for 70D this is a typical result. Add yours to this database and they last longer on average. https://olegkikin.com/shutterlife/canon_eos70d.htm For all that it is sad and disappointing, I know, I had a Fuji not a DSLR shutter fail it became a "movie only" camera. So good time to move on. Best wishes, Andrew.

When I bought the camera used at a local photo shop 3 years ago the shutter count was around 60K, I just checked it with ShutterCount and it is currently 91445. There should be some life left.

Not really my car, but I appreciate the class, especially in the last photo. And I bet they'll never be saying that about the blue Toyota in the background in 50 years, well, 47 years. I wonder in 1975 did they look at a Model A, 1928 , and say the same thing about the Pontiac in the background. That's the same comparison.

Best of all it's a one off, and your own specs. I had a bicycle the same, probably no better than off the shelf but got to choose the tubing, lugs, fittings, my Initials in the serial number. I have guitar friends and they love it.

No mention of how many actuations the shutter has done but I get the idea the life of a camera is measured in shutter actuations. Said to be around 100,000 apart from premature failure etc. So although not a cheap fix a new shutter (from Canon) would give the camera a good future life expectancy? and may be a better bet than any other used 70D ( I just bought on a few months ago) and would be "worth fixing". Just my thoughts. No I didn't it was a 60D I bought with about 10K clicks. That was an upgrade for me from a 50D a lot of us are on that line.

By "fuel cell" I guess you are talking about the hydrogen fuel cell? I was interested to learn about that recently so I looked intoo it.( I believe the Mr Musk Tesla cars are in 2024 going to that instead of battery). I think USA gets 40% of electricity from Diesel generation so straight up 40% of battery electric (BEV) cars are actually running on energy derived from Diesel. Electricty is measured in KWH. I read that a Hydrogen generator uses 55 KWH to produce 1kg of hydrogen and a further 15 KWH to compress it. That 1kg has about 25 KWH of energy in it, and when it's turned back into electricity gives about 20KWH to feed into your electric motor to turn the wheels. If you had used that original 70KWH (55+ 15) to charge your battery you would end up with 45-50 KWH to turn your wheels. So the hydrogen fuel cell system is only half the efficiency of storage battery. You do however avoid the "nasty" lithium battery production and recycling issue. It just uses a whole lot more electricity. Do we really have that much electricity? I just read Australia is more like 60% oil or coal dependent for electricity generation. I don't have the figure for my country (NZ) but I do know last winter we had a huge blackout due to shortage and used more imported coal last year than the previous 15 years or something. And I believe one of our major hydro storage lakes was well down on "normal" earlier in the year. Still we are being pressured into Electric cars! The big hope is further generation, from maybe Solar which can happen at a local level. Oh, "Big Oil" I think they favour hydrogen cell because they will distribute and retail. And on top of my earlier numbers on hydrogen production, you have to distribute the product in a tanker of some sort. At least with BEV you avoid that; got a mains wire to your house? recharge your car. No wire? Your probably an "off the gridder" and have solar, wind or water and an early adopter of BEV (and not looking foward to being dependent on hydrogen distribution)

My thoughts. All comments welcome. Most of my information comes from research on the internet, and I cannot vouch for it's accuracy but it's not from just one source.

Andrew.

Superbe photo, I love the depth and can almost feel the grass. And it's sort of two-in-one, the barn in the background is a subject on it's own, ditto the foreground. If I could produce a photo as good as that I'd be very pleased with myself. Andrew.

The OP probably does have his next camera in his sights already but no harm in getting other opinions....that's exactly what the forum is all about.....I thought. One of the best parts of (consumer) life is the hunt for the holy grail.

That's a very well thought out response to the responses thrown at you. Equally, the "what does the current camera not do for you?" is a valid question, if a little blunt and to the point. I have a 60D, a recent upgrade from my 50D. Doesn't make me a better photographer but SD cards are more convenient than the CF and higher resolution doesn't hurt. I'd love to "upgrade" to a 70D it must be better because it's newer. Our whole world revolves around the consumerism thing (sadly). Andrew.

Actually, my reason for the what difference does it make anyway, has nothing to do with my personal lack of knowledge or understanding. It has to do with the many, many folks who, for some unknown reason, always try to advise people who have asked about upgrading, not to, and then go on about the askers ability and have they mastered their current camera and such.
I'm a firm believer in, if they want it and can afford it, then buy it. Whether or not they have mastered or outgrown there current camera is irrelevant. For those who can afford to, upgrading is a good thing. Good for the individual and good for the camera industry, and possibly good for the person who buys the old, but still decent camera, the asked sells after they get their new camera.

Nice details in the download. I noticed the grille; its a series 3 and looking close, leaf springs I'm picking this is no longer "in service" being made before 1985? Very authentic. Good spotting.

This seems to be an issue we will see more of here. I recently dug out my Pentax istD and found the same thing, it appears the internal backup battery is soldered to the PCB inside and far from user replaceable, if even available. So every battery change means a date reset. The camera has a socket for external power supply, maybe if 6v is applied here I can remove and replace battery easily, muck like they do with Motor Cars to keep radio etc "up". Cheers.

The first photo is 100 times better (for me) than the second, I think it's the human interest part. I like how you've "vignetted" the picture, the dark edges. Delightfully remote spot I'll add it to my North Island destination list. Camped at the mouth of Mohaka (about 1988 ) and it reminds me of that.Cheers, Andrew (Timaru)

I think I even saw that story recently, here in NZ. Wasn't one quite premature? hence the "unexpected" part.
