Thanks for posting this very interesting technique. The challenge will be to find subject matter that will fit the process.
In Photoshop CS5 here is the path to shadows and highlights editing::

Thanks for posting the Edgerton site. I worked for EG&G at NTS in 1960 and 1961. There was a Rapatronic camera in the photo dept. but I dont remember it being used on a shot. Most of our work was with high-speed motion picture cameras. Best job I ever had.

Nice job. I'd like to hear the music.

Well done! The kelp and rocks are alive with color and texture. This is a good example of HDR used with a light hand. (No pun intended.) The dark values in the Mount make it appear as foreboding and mysterious.
Jim
What exposure times are you using? What ISO setting?

A perfect fit . . . image and music. Good job.

Nice work! Your image has a watercolor quality that I really like. The visual weight of the image is pulling the viewer to the right. The red mass wins, and the delicate yellow portion could be stronger.

Good reading, thanks for posting.
Well done! The image reminds me of Medusa's hair style.
The enhanced image is very well done, just enough to bring out some important details. However, the two bright areas above
the fire engine distract from the energy of the image.
Thanks for posting these images. After looking through them twice I think that they are outstanding examples of current photo enhancement. Beginning with what might have been a rather bland scene and pushing the colors and values to create a bright and lively landscape is a gift.
Well done! The moving water in the foreground adds a dynamic element that enhances the image.
Jim
Well done! You've revealed another reality.
