Flying cameras have wide angle lenses so need to be pretty close to do any spying and they make too much noise to use for spying when that close. Any camera with a long lens will work better if you want to do any spying.

Think of flying cameras as just great tripods that allow wonderful landscape shots that you can't get any other way. And, they are a lot of fun.

Very nice accident.

I've go to get out there and play/work with HDR more. My Pentax K% does a pretty good job in-camera HDR that has allowed me to get some good shots that would not have worked without HDR. The "Auto HDR" setting keeps it realistic.

Ransch and tradio, your attitude toward this senior citizen and war time vet speaks volumes about your own character, or perhaps more accurately your lack of character.

The OP has brought up a serious topic in the non-photographic area of UHH. It is perfectly proper for him to do so. If you're not interested in the topic, move on.

You have no excuse to be hurtful and rude to this gentleman. Your actions remind me of grade school bullies that think they improve their personal standing by beating up or otherwise downgrading others. As adults you should know the opposite is true.

Thank you. I got to have this! When traveling it would be great to know what I'm ordering. Also, my Grandson is a first grader in a school that only speaks Spanish. I don't speak it at all. I'll blow his little mind with this.

Thanks for the comparisons. I have to wonder if you were using the longest zoom. Nice work. Makes me think I should consider the SX60.

Being a man like any other man doesn't excuse the kind of behavior mentioned here. Thank God only a man like VERY FEW other men would take part in, excuse, or any way condone such behavior.

I didn't see the voltage listed on the Amazon site. Most rechargeable batteries are only 1.2 volts and non rechargable ones are 1.5 volts. That is why many things don't work as well with rechargeable ones. Some things don't work at all or draw down the voltage quickly to a point it won't work.

I gave up on the PowerEx batteries and their chargers years ago. The just didn't seem to hold up for me.

Bobbee mentioned a 15 minute charger. It is my understanding that the fast chargers use too much power, (high amps), and are therefore harmful to the batteries. Chargers with low amps take longer but your batteries last longer. I'd generally stick with what the manufacture recommends, but might be concerned if they recommend a fast charger.

I think that chargers built into your car are sometimes a little too high amps to be good for charging your batteries. I use the car for charging when needed but not regularly

It takes more than a lucky break in the weather to get such great shots -- good work!

Are these taken from Denali NATIONAL Park? They look more like I remembered the mountain as seen from Denali STATE Park south of Mt. McKinley. I'd have to dig out my pictures to tell for sure and I don't have the time right now. Wish my pictures were that good. It is much more often visible from the State Park.

Thanks for sharing these.

Enjoyed the shots. I know about where you were standing when you took the Clark Fork shot.

You live in a wonderful town and in a wonderful area. My son just bought a house on Rattlesnake Drive. I'm 80 and have failing eyesight so may be moving to Missoula in a few years. It would be great to be close to my grandkids, but I don't like cold winters. For now I'll just visit there 2 or 3 times a year.

Thank you. I have had that pop-up several times and was mad at Adobe. Glad to hear it wasn't them.

The only way to get it off the screen is to close that page on your browser and then reopen UHH. Again, being overly suspicious has saved the day. I never open anything I'm not sure about, so didn't open this one either.

Again, thanks for letting us know.

I see no room for improvement. Colors appear to be right on. To my way of thinking, if you had tried to bring out more detail in the shadows it might not have appeared natural. I think of HDR as a tool to make a subject look the same as what we would have seen with our own eyes. I don't think our eyes would have discerned any more detail than is shown in your shot.

I really know little about branding, or horses for that matter. But I noticed that the horse's branding marks were all different. If they had been branded by a rancher to mark them as being his/hers, wouldn't they all have the same brand? That made me wonder if they could be truly wild horses but branded by the national park, (or other agency responsible for the area), to identify each horse for tracking their individual genealogy, health, or other record keeping purpose?

That is only a guess or suggestion to explain the different markings. As usual, I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Regardless of the markings, these are really very nice shots. I've enjoyed them -- Thanks for posting. If you said where they were taken, I missed it but would like to know.

I'll try to post a few wild horse shots I took in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota's badlands. I just flipped through them and could not see any signs of branding. I guess they should be in a separate heading instead of interfering with your postings.

I agree that a wonderful vacation could be in BC and the Yukon without going to Alaska. But for me, once I've put in the miles, I might as well go all the way. I was sorry to see the pull-offs in the Yukon marked "No Overnight Parking". A lady at the Visitor's Center in Whitehorse said to ignore the signs.

The Dempster Highway is a "must do". Most people that go to Dawson continue across the 'Top of the World Highway" to Alaska and then down to Tok. But once you cross into Alaska the highway becomes old and pretty bad. It is safe but slow until you get to Chicken. Your RV would not have any problem with it.

My favorite spot in the Yukon is three or four miles east of Whitehorse on the Yukon river. At that spot, the river is only about 30 feet wide with about 30 foot cliffs on each side. Many hiking trails on both sides of the river, connected by a good solid foot bridge across the river. Beautiful area. Those pictures aren't on this computer or I'd show it to you.

You mentioned taking the Alaska Ferry. Prince Rupert would be the southern ferry terminal. From there you would drive to Prince George and then south to Vancouver. That would be a long drive, but beautiful. If you "island hopped" along the ferry route you wouldn't need a cabin on the ferry, so it would be cheaper than going straight through. I'd also like to do that sometime, but it is expensive. I travel cheap but often.

If you do do that, go the extra miles up BC's Highway 37 and 37a to Hyder, AK. Great bear watching in a very very small Federal Park that consists of nothing but a long board walk from which you can watch bears feasting on salmon. I talked to several people that regularly take their vacations there and claim to know the bears by name. Check first to be sure the bears and salmon are there. The northern end of that highway is near Watson Lake and the south end meets Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Prince George.

Also, if your board the ferry in Haines, check to see if the eagles are at the preserve just north of there. I understand they come by the thousands in the early fall.

I'm planning to return to Alaska this summer and stay into the fall. I made a bad mistake of coming home too soon from the last trip so have to go back. It will be the third time by RV. My first trip was on a cruise ship with friends on their honeymoon. I turn 80 this Tuesday so I'd better do it while I still can.

Hope to see you on the road up north some time.
