I pull into a gas station on a road trip and I'm out in 15 minutes for the next 300 miles - My son-in-law with his EV has 150 miles range and takes 2 hours to charge. I'll keep my methods.
I'm with you Shellback. I do keep watch on my mileage and I'm getting approximately 27 to 33 mpg of gas. I think that compares favorably with anything else. Somewhere, I heard or read something about oil being able to replenish itself. If true, then I will stick to what I have. LOL.
Have you priced a gasoline Lexus SUV lately? Usually $90K+ and a waiting list.
To be honest, Red6, no, I have not priced a Lexus SUV. We, (my wife and I,) are very happy with our 2017 Hyundai, Tucson. LOL, at my age, why bother with a new car...
I agree - too much for me, but so were cell phones, handheld calculators and computers. Time will tell.
I see Teslas, Range Rovers, Jeep Wagoneers, and many other expensive cars in large quantities as we drive the TN-FL, TN-IL, and TN-TX roundtrip treks each year.
There's a cognitive disconnect (dissonance) to see all these expensive cars on the road, yet hear those same people complain how bad the economy is for them.
I agree - too much for me, but so were cell phones... (show quote)
I do agree with you, Triple G, but prices won't come down appreciably in the near distant future. Not only that, but charging stations need generators to operate, and that meant fossil fuel. It's a bit of a "catch 22" right? Also, along the same lines, it still costs close to $1000 to buy the latest I-phone...I don't think that is very low for now, and also, at my age, (86) what earthly good would the newest I-phone do me. I just need a phone to call my friends, doctors, etc., and to receive calls. I, at this time, don't need all the bells and whistles. LOL.
They are all over the place in Bloomington-Normal, IL where there is a plant. Just like you used to see GM's, Fords and Chryslers in Detroit. Brave new world, but not that new.
I do not dispute what you say, and, it may well be a great automobile, but I still say that the PRICE, is WAY out of the reach of most people!
I was driving behind a Rivian truck yesterday. I had never heard of that brand. It seems very risky to buy a new brand of EV. Even the big-name car makers are having trouble selling their EVs
A photo of a woman's privates is commonly called a Crotch Shot. The glass ommonly used to measure ocktails is a Shot Glass. Here is my version of a Crotch Shot.
Doesn't matter what it is called. I consider it one of your best, Jim!!!! Sheer perfection.
I've tried to create the kind of lighting a few of you suggested. There's still much room for improvement (and more lighting equipment to purchase....possibly). The following photos represent the shots that appealed to me for various reasons. As always, all suggestions are appreciated. I hope I'll have more portrait opportunities for experimentation/practice. The added benefit was getting acquainted with the subjects.
to begin with, your portraits are really good. There is nothing wrong with them, period! But, I would try to not have subjects wear black with a black background. Maybe use a very soft halo light on the black background to accentuate the subjects head and shoulders. With formal portraits, try using a gray background and vignette the corners for a more dramatic effect. Other than those suggestions, your work is EXCELLENT Vick!!!
